There is no password problem, the username and password that you use is listed on the beta post where you download from. It is the same username and password for everyone. Should have been more clear on that.
Successfully downloaded the patch and checked the menu page for the right version #s. Maybe for other computer dummies like myself you could edit your post for those who need it. :P

Uh-Oh! "Right version #s"...don't like the sounds of that one! Unfortunately, I am on the rung of the ladder below dummy!

Is there something I should be checking?

When you fire up GB, look to the top of the opening page menu, there should be a # like V10001, or close to that, it meams the Beta Patch is now in your game. :)

I did see that when I started the latest game. Must have worked because had absolutely no problems with the artillery.

More than likely when the new patches come out they would be #ed; v102, v103 and so on, at the same location as V10001, unless V10001 supercedes future patches, the NSD Team would have the answer to that.

I'm sure it's not lost on anyone in this forum that the Artillery better work right for you. No pun intended!

Thats the first time I've heard someone say they wanted to upgrade from XP. Is 7 really an improvement?

Actually, I am quite confident that Jim has it right! Played with one battery in a game a little while ago and they worked just fine. Didn't have to resupply so don't know what that will entail.

BTW, have figured out Jim's angle on skirmishers...if you send skirmishers forward for a regiment, as was the norm, the whole regiment acts as skirmishers instead of one or two of the flank companies. To have them advance, the colors have to be placed out front for them to "guide on"...which is historically incorrect. But, I imagine this is done rather than using a "marker." Hopefully, there will be a later mod to have the colors remain on the "battle-line" and the skirmishers advance beyond, somewhere between 100 to 500 yards. Incidentally, when Pickett led the charge, skirmishers were 120 yards in front of the battle-line.

Thanks,

J

An official patch will be labeled as you describe, but this is a beta build and I wanted to leave some room in there :)

If you have the beta patch installed, then I put in the flag to enable the app to use more ram.
How do I "put in the flag"

No, I put in the flag. It's there, there is nothing that you can do. It just means that it should be able to use between 2-3 rather than just around 2.

If you're running on WinXP, you can edit your boot.ini to allow XP to use 4GB of RAM instead of the 3GB limitation it has now. Please see this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx
