because unlike you i can read a MAP. do you know what a map is? do you know how important a map is? do you guys even know how important it is to have a map that is up to date than use a map that's 8 or 9 years older than the battle? lee threw away the map of 1858, the map the union used. maede looked at the same map shook his head, and asked his genearls if it really was good ground to just hold a defense. leee had map makers make new maps for the gettysburg campaign. and sent out for a map of gettysburg
from harrisburg pa.and with this knowlage lee had why didn't lee win the battle of gettysburg? the answer is simple, the answer that has puzzled historians for over a 100 years is very simple. lee did not want to win the battle of gettysburg! the reason is simple to. even if lee had won the battle , it would not have ended the war.lee told longstreet a story about the great trap of being a general. that sooner or later there would come a time when he would to witness the destruction of his army, that generals could be used to the accasional loss of a few men and close friends during a battle, but a general could never be prepared for the loss of his whole army , and that he said to gen. longstreet was ;;the great trap'', then he said to longstreet''we are in a great sea of blood and deaths destruction, and i want it to end, i want it to end here today! he told this to gen. longstreet after longstreet had stressed the fact the the way around the confederate right flank'' the union left flank'' the big round top.
this was on the 3rd day before picketts charge. because lee knew one thing no one else knew or thought about. that even if the confederate army had won that day at gettysburg and marched on washington d. c. linclon and his cabinate would have just moved the house of rep., the senate, and the u.s. judicial to a new location and the war would have still gone on even longer and longer and longer. and besides if you've ever spent any time in pennslyvania you'd know its not a nice place to visit and even worse if you have to live here. its whats called ''a god forsaken country'' so you see lee had no intention of winning the battle of gettysburg. because he could have crushed the union army there or anywhere. but it was the best place to destroy the army of virgina. lee was tired . he just wanted to end the war so he could just go home to his place in virginia.

This is a great game....but, having your couriers ride directly into an enemy line of battle has to be one of the great shortcomings of the game! I know this has been addressed repeatedly, but, like the squeaky wheel which gets the grease, I am "squeaking" (of course, it could just be the old age!)

I am sure this is being addressed...just wanted to add more fuel to the flame!

no , the courier thing hasn't been addressed it will probably be a few days or more i'm sure. its not an overnight type fix i'm sure.

Man, the map don't tell you when a general is in distress and needs help. The map doesn't tell you a sitrep and it doesn't tell you what the enemy orders where (intercepted messages). The courier system is a major strongpoint of this game and once properly working I can't wait to go back to BDE courier level.

I agree anyway with everyone else's opinion, courier messaging should be iconed in the "tray" so you can read the message when it's more comfy for you. As usual, if possible, I would still do the option to disable couriers, the more settings, the more players can be made happy at the same time.

I don't mind not knowing what everyone else is doing...I walk around in a perpetual "fog" (of war) anyway! And I don't mind losing couriers to enemy fire. But, I have to draw the line at the senseless slaughter of the courier's horse! Good horseflesh is getting hard to find. Would be kind of nice to just see a riderless horse wandering around the battlefield.

I suggest setting a time of say 5 seconds between a courier's death and the automatic resending of the courier. I had a general that was under enemy fire, and as soon as a courier left him the courier died and another appeared, so it was a fountain ceaselessly spewing couriers upon the ground.

Not a huge priority but just one of those things.

I NEVER USE COURIERS I PERSONALLY CHECK ALL PART OF THE BATTLEFIELD CONDITIONS AND CHEACK ON ALL MY DIVISIONS my soldiers are never in trouble and if they are they know whats expected of them . of course the union army is different they never know whats going on on the battlefield. the union army needs a totally restructionering. always did , always will. union army =lumbering elephant easy to kill.

if you don't know when your troops are in trouble, that doesn't say much for you as a leader of your men.first of when you go into battle you must assume the othere brigades cannot hold and make every effort to help them .

Um, rckgunny, you DO know that the "reigmental commander" moniker is related solely to the number of forum posts one makes, not gaming ability?
