Re:Unit Uniform Changes...Can Someone Help Me Out?
Jack, thanks.
I'm only messing with the unitglobal.csv. I'm not changing anything in the unitmodel.csv. I don't want to make new uniforms (well, I do, but it looks like I need to learn 3D modeling for a start
), I just want to make new uniform mixes for some units. I do have a scenarios folder with a logistics folder in my Mods. I'll only use oobs in that folder to experiment with from now on. The reason I used the "master-master" oobs in the SDK files(as opposed to the master oobs I copied into the Mods/Scenarios/Logistics file), is because the SDK manual hinted that since the master oob controls the uniforms, any change should be made to those oobs. And I only did tried modifying the master-master oob after I first tried to modify an oob in one of the Mod/Scenarios file and that crashed....
Well, anyway, back to the drawing board tonight and see what happens.
P.S. I have had no problem using the oob editor and changing unit strengths, officer names, etc., even on the master-master oobs (I don't use, and won't be using, multiplayer).

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

All of the uniforms in the game can be mixed up any way that you desire, as long as you have defined it in the unitglobal file.
I use a mix of both armies to represent the confederate forces.

unitmodel – the only reason that you would change this would be to stop some of the units from standing during the fighting actions.
If you look closely all of my units are loading or firing during combat!

davinci, that's exactly why I wanted to mod them!

Davinci - You should release that as a mod. That's a great looking rebel army you have there.Jack

Re:Unit Uniform Changes...Can Someone Help Me Out?
When I altered the uniform mix for the release to add the slouch hat Federal in with approximately every sixth Rebel regiment and the shirtsleeve Reb in with the Yanks I figured that was pushing it far enough. I'm delighted to see some want it even more mixed up.

Adukes,
LOL - roger that. I usually have posted the message b4 I think to spell check it.
DaV,
Yes. Am aware of the unitglobal changes as you mention. For some reason I can't get them to conform to what I want, but again, I am running on the lowest possible settings. Interestingly, I've never noticed anyone standing still in combat. I'll have to go take a look next game
.
S,
Looks like you've got the right help here. Good deal on knowing about the "Mods" folder aspect. Also, I wasn't talking about new uniforms, just activating certain ones in the lowest uniforms settings to get as much mix as I could w/out lagging the game horribly . Did this alot in TC2M since my vid card wasn't great. Worked really well. Good luck.

Re:Unit Uniform Changes...Can Someone Help Me Out?
Hey All,
I want to thank you all for the quick and insightful help. This is a really nice forum...I've been on some nasty ones, let me tell you!
By the way, based on all the ideas and discussion, I finally tumbled onto my main problem...I was editing the unitglobal in the SDK and then adding the new uniform classes to the OOBs in the Mods/Scenarios/OOB folder. But I should have been editing the unitglobal in the Mods/Scenarios/Logistics Folder (which I forgot I even had).
So, I've now modded all my Confedrate and many Union infantry to my heart's content! I added at least one Union Inf 01 (Blue Kepi/Coat, no backpack) or Inf 08 (slouch hat) in each Confedrate Inf Class, and at least one Union Inf 08 in all the Federal Classes except Zouaves and Berdan's SS.
