Good points there RD, and I don't disagree, but that pertained primarily to SP play and how to beat the AI.
Steering this thread back on course, let me forward this question:
What gamey tactics in MP play are perpetrated without using TC?

The only thing gamey/non-historical tactic that doesn't require TC'ing, that I can think of at this moment is how some players will roll their guns up behind their infantry... often times pushing their infantry up close with the enemy so the guns can get close enough for canister. Using this tactic, the artillery can start shotgunning the enemy, without taking counter-fire from enemy troops (since we use 220yrd rifles in MP).
I for one, would like to see (if its possible) for a future patch to fix it so that artillery wont fire at all if friendly troops are within a certain distance in front of them (say 100 yrds or so) unless there is a difference in elevation to negate the possibility of friendly fire.

Ah, good one, I think we fixed this LOS issue with the next micro patch, coming real soon. It was a terrain LOS glitch fix and I find it is also now doing a better job at blocking arty from firing through friendlies...let us know if this is better when it is released.

The only other one I can thing of that irks some folks is scouting with officers. Technically, your own officer is always TC'd though, so... We have reduced the distance a player may go from their officer but that has had zero effect.

Yes, now I remember this complaint. As with the last post, this issue should be better with the coming LOS fix. You should be able to hide better from those officer/scouts...woods, ravines, etc. And again, remember, I especially designed in the modded MP toolbar a 'hide unit' command to help out.
This LOS fix is going to help out a lot. Last night I was testing one of the Pipe Creek scenarios, had my arty behind a regiment, and they were blocked big time, although in canister range. Even moved the regiment up, and they were still blocked from firing. Also, the enemy was hidden well, even in light woods and just mildly depressed areas of terrain. This LOS fix should grease many squeaking wheels.
Any more non TC related gamey tactics?

Might as well, because TC will always live on the keyboard, among other ultra control commands.
