Turning my attention to OOB's, and VP locations.

I know I'm not explaining this properly because I just don't understand it. Here is where I am running into problems. It's where who commands who, and what do the numbers mean?

Look at the pattern. It's a hierarchy. A 0 means that person can give orders to everyone below him. So Howard can give orders to everyone. Doubleday everyone below him. Wadsworth everyone below him. Meridith everyone below him, which is the 19th Indiana. The 19th Indiana is the low man on the totem pole.

That's how I understand it. I'm sure someone can explain it better.

If you want an example of a small unit look at Little Powell's Brigade Scenario Pack. The first scenario, GBBP01-July3-Lost Avenue (C-Reg), is comprised of a single regiment. I use it for all kinds of things because it is easy to figure out.

Thanks for the help guys. Following the format in the OOB just confuses me more when you see other numbers which in some columns do make sense, but not in others.

I used Garniers OOB generator/converter (excellent little program), and just finished editing an OOB.

Okay this is what I am doing. To help those who are new to the game, I want to give them a smaller group of men to command (get their feet wet) without being swamped with larger numbers. So in this particular OOB I have given him/her a Regiment, 2 cannon, 1 cavalry unit too command. It's not a very large contingent, but something that he/she can tinker with, and learn the basic for each unit type.

I am wondering what would be a good head count? Suggestions?

Also how do you stop commanders from showing up in the OOB (commanders I do not want the user to choose to command)?

I think we all were once cross eyed when we first saw an oob file, but after you study it for a while, it becomes quite clear and simple.

I have to say it's a wee bit confusing. I can't imagine what it's like for you guys to come up with these new edits all the time. I don't even want to try to figure out what it's like for Norb, I mean having the ability to sit there, and write this stuff is beyond me, and very very impressive. One man in the basement, with a good team is simply mind boggling with what you folks have come up with.

Anyhoo, I'm off to experience more pain, and suffering...don't be concerned if you see a cloud of dark smoke in the NNE direction, it's just me laying there...

Aaah so that is how you do it, I thought you could do that in the OOB. That looks allot easier actually.

You're welcome. All of the .csv files really make sense if you play this particular scenario a few times. It's only 20 minutes long. You can really see how those files translate into the playing of the game. I'm not a scenario designer by any stretch of the imagination but I know this scenario and I can see what all the stuff does because it's so small.

Hi.

You know I was looking over the csv's, and I started to wonder...

Since I am very new to wanting to make my own scenario's, I am wondering what can actually be done. I can't seem to explain this properly so I'll give you a small example.

<Game in Progress>

I have been battling for over 2 hours, and I am now on the verge of being thoroughly defeated. I click on a button which brings up a small panel with a list of troops which I can call in for support, at a cost of course.

List
----
[Regiments]
1: Green - 300 troops. Cost: 300 vp points.
2: Regular - 500 troops. Cost 550 vp points.
3: veteren - 800 Troops. Cost 1100 vp points.

etc...etc...

Now once I choose who I wish to call in, the move to map pops up, I then select where I wish them to be placed.

OR

Once I reach a predefined level of troops, meaning if I start out with say I don't know 30,000 men, and I am reduced to now 8,000 a predefined trigger goes off, and immediately more troops arrive, at a predefined cost of VP points, which then I am asked where to place them (move to map).

Can this be done in this game? Have predefined triggers to send in troops automatically when you reach a certain level of despair? :pinch:

Man, your brain wears me out! I haven't done a whole lot of research but I know this:

Troops can arrive throughout a scenario. See the Brigade Combat Tutorial.

There is a command, evtintrouble:
