ive noticed this alot recently....and hadn't noticed it before. The other night my unit charged and retreated about 5 or 6 times in one melee. They only retreat a few metres, then charge again, it was weird.

this is the "auto-charge bug" that has been mentioned frequently in the MP forum (and elsewhere as well, I reckon).

Multiple Melees
play a lot as I test, and I rarely see this occurrence, and, when it happens, it appears realistic...troops get overwhelmed, then out of control. If you manage your forces well and avoid melees, I feel you stay out of these predicaments for the most part.

The MP play is however more acute here, whereas folks force troops into close combat. This has caused concerns, and may have to be addressed eventually. That is, if they ever get some good saves, send them to us, and demand satisfaction. Right now, no saves, just squeaks.

I DEMAND SATISFACTION!! RRAARGH.

I actually avoid melee as much as possible so it's not as big of a deal for me. Mostly it just ends up massively favoring those with more men (especially larger regiments). It's actually become a tactic lately to use level 2 regiments as fodder their first battle and throw them into melee to get them some experience. It may shred the unit, but they usually come out at least as a 3 or 4.

We did get a save the other day when I crashed the game by rotating one of my regiments too many times (ie 3 or so). No idea if it actually got submitted for review but I believe the save bit was actually done. So ha!

It happens almost every MP game we play. Melee, retreat, autocharge back into melee, retreat, autocharge back into melee, repeat until the unit routes.

I'm used to it now. All you have to do is keep pounding on the retreat button. But most of the time, it's someone else's boys recharging my boys, so I just watch the point total rise.

The thing I have noticed with me is more often than not the other side surrenders. No harm in giving it a go until you win.

this is a very frustrating subject. yeah sure its sounds accurate but when you see it ,it sure isn't accurate. One of the problems is the auto-retreat.example:regiments A and B are in melee A breaks and runs, B starts shooting them,A auto-retreats BACK towards the enemy causing another melee. why on earth would units retreat towards the enemy?

because they are caught up in the battle lust and don't know which way to go, they just want to charge, bash, and kill
