The Major Victory is just the headline screen you see when you beat a scenario. The scores are hard coded. So for this scenario, 4,200 is set in the code and you must achieve that for promotion.RebBugler wrote:I'm confused, but that's easily done. So unless you get 4200 points, no promotion. But don't you have to get 4200 points to get a MV?
The promotions are based on high score, not Major Victory.

That's what I thought. Headlines are nice but "promoted" on the High Scores screen is what really matters to me.The Major Victory is just the headline screen you see when you beat a scenario. The scores are hard coded

Re: Need help with Scenario Twenty-Two
I have been able to achieve a victory with a score of 3,900 plus points. However, I am still unable to garner a major victory and be able to move on to the next scenario. This has been over the course of playing the game multiple times. It has become quite frustrating, and I am at a point where I need to walk away before I get even more angry.
The variant I am playing has the enemy force divided into several groups of companies. The biggest problem that I have on my side is the apparent lack of willingness to fight with several of the New York formations. This is particularly true with K and L companies. I have moved the New Jersey troops up to support, and I am able to typically capture several of the enemy units. Despite all that, I am not getting the major victory.
I am sorry it has come to this, but when the game gets to point where it is no longer challenging but simply frustrating, I know that it is time to walk away for a while. If someone has a solution here, please let me know.

3900, and giving up? Definitely not General talk.
Tip: Though I've never needed it to get a Major Victory, note that the Union battery is unlocked the last 10 minutes...enough time to move it up for some extra points via canister.
Make sure the objectives stay secure the whole time, they may slip in and out unnoticed, so support them and watch them closely. The objective points alone equal the MV points - 4200.

Finally got the major victory. I moved the entire new york calvary up to the picket fence, and hoped for the best. The variant in question, had the enemy in company size formations. The initial lasted about ten minutes, and one enemy company did rout from the field. Once that part was over, the next phase took place around the stone wall. I brought over three of the new jersey formations, and attacked on the flank and rear. There was some close quarters fighting at the wall, but by bringing up several units from the right, I was able to contain the attack, and capture several units.
Once most of the enemy fled the field, the rest of the scenario was a winding down of operations, and finally achieving a score of 4242. By the way, walking away for a while is not giving up, it is simply making sure that I did not start spouting off like some maniac, and saying things that I would regret later. :side:
