I've noticed something that I consider a bit weird. I've been using the "DbgLvl"-function that was advised, and have done some testing on the different graphical settings. All tests were done on the "Infantry Division"-tutorial.
The most remarkable thing thus far, is that the only difference in performance between the default- and highest possible Draw Distance-levels is on maybe 1 or 2 FPS.
When running on the default Terrain/Units/Trees/Objects -Draw Distance settings, I have about 6 FPS when zoomed all the way out, with both armies on-screen. When I press "Ctrl-T" three times to have all map-objects be invisible, I run on ca. 15 FPS. That's the biggest difference I can get. All the other stuff, (different graphical settings, maxed-out Draw Distance, where my camera is pointed, paused/unpaused, CrossFireX on/off, etc.), will only give or take around 1 or 2 FPS.
Perhaps it might have something to do with the AI-calculations, like someone suggested, maybe it's just spectacularly incompetently optimized, maybe it's some ungodly combination of the two - I don't know. But one thing's for sure:
I really wanted to buy Antietam, but will hold off for now.
^ This.
Anyways; if the AI really is causing the performance-issues, perhaps the patch has added some new AI-calculations, or something, that has made the game more demanding? (Also; didn't there use to be a setting to control V-Sync, or am I remembering wrong?)
