It's not the anti-virus problem that I was having that was so problematical,
it's getting this bloody program to run again that is.
EVERY other program I have (and I've tested them all, including TC2M) runs
perfectly fine. This is the only one that's given me fits. I've researched
this issue all blasted day, without success. It's likely just time to move
on. Too bad it's such a great game

Try re-installing your net-frameworks again.

These drivers may very well have become corrupt.

Hey Michael,
Thanks for your reply. Yep, I thought for sure that re-installing the netframework
would solve the problem. It downloaded and installed without any errors but, sadly,
it hasn't solved the problem, I'm getting the same blasted error message...now, when
I enter my registration code and hit next....the error message pops up. I was positive
that would fix the problem but it hasn't. I'm really out of ideas here. I even
un-installed the game, ran the net framework update, re-installed the game...nuthin.
I'd love to hear from Norb or one of the developers as to what could be causing this.
As I said, everything else works like a charm....even Take Command - Second Manassas,
which, I assume, is a similair type of engine. As I was in the middle of a great
scenario, and book, on the battles of South Mountain, this is all very discouraging.
Thanks for the suggestion! I thought that was it for sure.

It could be that the game is getting falsely flagged by a virus scanner. Disable or uninstall your virus scanner to rule that out, then try to activate again.
There have been problems in the past of virus scanners messing with the game..
Don't give up yet. We will work with you to get this problem resolved.

Hi Powell,
Have done so. No effect. Again, uninstalled the game, disabled virus protection,
re-installed with virus protection off, attempted to run the game and got the same,
now maddening error message...."runtime Error. The application has requested the runtime
to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more
information."
It seems no matter what action I take, and like I said, I've tried everything I, and
you guys, have thought of to no effect. The thing that I don't get is that this
was running perfectly until SOMETHING happened to break it. I've run anti-malware
scans, virus scans, pet dander in the computer tower scans etal. I'm plumb out of
ideas. If any other program was acting in a similiar way, I'd have more to go on
but everything else runs beautifully. I spent a ridiculous amount of time yesterday
googleing "runtime error" and have tried every solution that sounded relevant.
Not about to give up.....I really want to finish "Landscape Turned Red", an awesome
book on the battle of antietam and playing the antietam stuff in SOW has really
added to my understanding of the battle. It is, however, putting me on the ledge

Thanks for everybodies help on this btw, really appreciated.

Perhaps a fresh download of the game?

I noticed that you have the sow game the"games" folder. Try installing the sow game in c:/ drive. There might be something in your game folder that is making an error.

Did you also install your "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package"?
I hope you get the game to work.

KG: re-downloaded the game
RD: installed to C:\Scourge of War - Gettysburg
Michael: yep, re-installed Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package
prior to the re-install
Start Gettysburg-SOW: enter license code in the box, hit next....
"Runtime Error" blah blah blah.......
Question: I've got the following installed:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x64 9.0.30729.17
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable x64 9.0.30729.4
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable x64 9.0.307.29.6
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable x64 9.0.21022
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable x64 9.0.30729.17 (again)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable x64 9.0.30729.6 (again)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable x64 10.0.30319
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable x64 10.0.40219
Microsoft Visual J# .NET Redistributable Package 1.1
Microsoft WSE 3.0 Runtime
Is this correct?
Would it make sense to wipe em all out and start re-installing
them from scratch? or will I just mess up everything else that
currently is working?
Thanks guys.

Maybe the activation files have gotten corrupted. Question; when you uninstalled the game, did you also manually delete the game files? If not, backup your Saved Games folder. It is found in the Work folder in your game directory. Then delete the full game directory, then do a re-install. You'll probably have to get your activation code reset. You can email the activation address to do that, and the response time is usually very quick.
