+1 for Chasseurs à Cheval de la Garde Impériale, but only if we can see them in their parade uniforms.
They were show offs, after all

Thanks for the ideas - I'm going to put up the vote now. Maybe a forgone conclusion but you never know. I'll probably add in a few ideas I had myself.
The pictures you posted are interesting Saddletank and show the difficulty in getting uniforms 'right' as they have a number of differences between them.

Yes, well spotted. The first picture is Russia 1812 I think. The dark grey/green breeches with the twin gold stripe are probably fatigue overalls, or an undress uniform, worn here for simple comfort. They also have their foul weather capes rolled and folded across their chests Confederate infantry style. And they're wearing their pelisses. They must be enduring spells of bad or cold weather.
The smaller pic shows the cream tight pantaloons that were more dressy but less practical, no rolled capes and rather brighter more orangey pelisses (worn loose) though the dull colour of the first pic could well be an artistic choice to show dull light conditions.
In addition gold shabraque lace/edging vs scarlet. Hm.
I don't know that the Chasseurs rode greys as the second pic shows, I thought they went for a mix of bays and chestnuts.
As you say, its often tricky. At least there's dozens of picture and text references for these dudes.

I voted for Landwehr Cavalry. A very unpopular choice, but I did it on the basis that there were so many of them. A whopping 25 squadrons at Waterloo, and still more at Wavre. In terms of sheer numbers, I think that's the biggest gap.
Not as sexy as the Chasseur a cheval, I agree
