But you have to factor in the mental beating unleashed by the wife during the pregnant months (which I am currently enduring), so it's more like double that.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd just tack this on here.
I'm a State Employee in Alabama. So ........
today's a State holiday & I'm off from work.
Confederate Memorial Day
To the fallen, no matter what color they wore.

It's funny you should mention that you have a Civil War Era Holiday, We have Bunkerhill Day here in Massachusetts (state holiday), Linclon's/Washington's Birthday (President's Day) (national), and Vereran's Day (national), but nothing commemorating the Civil War specifically, yet locally we have numerous memorials to that war. I was wondering how many states celabrate(sp) the Civil War?

We also get Jeff Davis' B'day.
And now Robert E. Lee shares his B'day/State Holiday with MLK.
So it's now known as King-Lee Day.

Oh yeah, I forgot about MLK Day which is a holiday for government workers, but less so for the private sector, kinda a halfassed holiday. You can take the day off, but you don't necessarily get paid for it.

Three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of former Union soldiers and sailors - the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) - established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. Maj. Gen. John A. Logan declared it should be May 30. The first large observance was held that year at Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. The cemetery already held the remains of 20,000 Union dead and several hundred Confederate dead.
Presided over by Gen. and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant and other Washington officials, the Memorial Day ceremonies centered around the mourning-draped veranda of the Arlington mansion, once the home of Gen. Robert E. Lee. After speeches, children from the Soldiers' and Sailors' Orphan Home and members of the GAR made their way through the cemetery, strewing flowers on both Union and Confederate graves, reciting prayers and singing hymns.

O.K., I guess I'm officially turning this into a SPAM thread.
Or  as the case may be:
2 reported Swine Flu cases in my kids school system. They are closing all the schools in the County for the next two days & the effected school for 7 days.
Just remenmber:
Life's a piece of sh**
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

Fried spam, eggs over easy, onions mixed in homefries, coffee, is what's for breakfast. The rest of the world can beat themselves up for the next 20 minutes.
