Multiplayer Observations
Re:Multiplayer Observations
Well, I just finished my first multiplayer game ever, and I love it. I do have to learn such things as using in game chat and such (if for nothing else to communicate with my team mates) but that will come in time. There was a little lag but I do not know the speed of my team mates/opponents connections.
Could have been 2400 baud for all I know (shows my age) .
Well done S.O.W team...

IT'S GREAT...and aside from the small lagg sometimes, or in one game, several times, due to connections of course, worked fine and was great fun! :woohoo:
but for a European like me, the keyboard issue is the ONLY annoying thing, when you type "y" you get "z" and vice-versa and when you are looking for "?" or ":" you search for them longer than the chat is on :woohoo: - so not a big issue concerning gameplay but a smaller one for user-friendlyness... - don't know how difficult it would be to fix it...changing my PC-language might help, haven't tried it yet...but still...
aside from that...CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FULL GAME....

well done altogether...and thanks for the patience and devotion to finish it...
well put Mazikainen, I got MP working too...I managed to get a multiplayer match with two players commanding a division done after tinkering with my router settings a bit. My opponent was "John5" and the game ran pretty smoothly. There was a small lag between ordering a unit to do something and for the waypoint to appear on the map, but I don't have any idea where my opponent was playing from. The match was brutal and straightforward and ended up with the confederate division taking a sound thrashing.
A note on the lobby. The blasted thing forces me to write using US keyboard settings on my scandic keyboard, so all the keys except the alphabet are on the wrong places. I had a very hard time trying to quess where the question mark is. Is the lobby third party software, and if so, can the problem be remedied? It's nothing serious but is rather irritating when trying to chat with the other generals.

Wow! MP is amazing!
Incredible job guys. I was actually laughing out loud after playing. Humans are damned hard to kill!
I had some serious issues at first, but a few settings changes later and I was running just fine.
I have one request. Is there a way that you can put in some sort of chat in the after battle screen? It would be nice to chat with teammates and opponents while still looking over the ugly stats and without having to exit out to the lobby.
Again, great job!

Re:Multiplayer Observations
A battle report printed to a text file would be great if it doesn't already exist.

Re:Multiplayer Observations
Played a co-op game as rebs. After 20 minutes or so units started to disappear and reappear. Even units right in front of me. Even the AI (arty) stopped firing at them when they disappeared.
I have fraps and my G15 keyboard showed 60 fps(max with vsync) but the game was sluggish with jerky movement. Even a multiplayer game played by myself was sluggish.
Just a consideration: In a demo the multi map should show off the game better with a better looking map not a mostly barren field.

Re:Multiplayer Observations
just played a 4 player game for about 30 mins, seemed to work quite well although 1 player dropped 20 mins in.
Hosted here in Australia and suspect all other players were US based.
How do you end the game? In the end I hit the resign button as the Rebs had all but fled the field. Also it is not intuitive how to broadcast text messages to all players.
Good fun though!
cheers Chris

Re:Multiplayer Observations
The "End Battle" button doesn't seem to work in MP. Nor does the P (pause) button in my experience.
X is the button to chat with other players in game. The messages appear in the little tan box in the upper left.

From the manual: "The pause function is not available in multiplayer games."

Re:Multiplayer Observations
OOB navigation in multi seems to mess up. I can always go down the chain to a regiment. But clicking commanded by doesn't always allow me to go up the chain of command. Single player the OOB goes up and down just fine. This was tested in a multi game by myself.
