Hi guys,
Here are some of the concerts I went to in the 70's at Madison Square Garden, Nassau Coliseum, Rooselvelt Stadium, Shea Stadium & Carnagie Hall :
Black Sabbath (2 times)
Led Zeppelin (2 times)
Deep Purple
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Yes (2 times)
The Who
Doobie Brothers
Elton John (2 times)
Boston
Jethro Tull
Robin Trower
Chicago
Sly & the Family Stone
Humble Pie
The Good Rats
The loudest of the groups was Deep Purple maybe because I was in the 12th row from the stage at MSG. For the next week, all I kept hearing over & over again was "Highway Star" B)
Emerson, Lake & Palmer was at MSG during the Christmas Holiday. In the middle of the concert, they started playing "Silent Night, Holy Night" and they had confetti falling from the ceiling as if it was snowing ....Awesome !!! Then they go right into "Karn Evil 9" Whoa !!!!!!!
Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath both times at the Garden, what can you say !!!, "Stairway to Heaven", "IronMan" and everything in between :cheer: :cheer:
Jethro Tull was at Shea Stadium. Close by is LaGuardia Airport & many takeoffs seem to be right overhead at Shea. To this day, I believe the following was planned by Ian Anderson. After Robin Trower opened up, Jethro Tull was supposed to start at 8pm. By 8:15, still nothing and everyone is now getting antsy. All of a sudden, it sounded like a Jumbo jet was about 100 feet over our heads, so instinct, everyone looks up to see. When you looked back at the stage, Jethro Tull was standing there and and starts playing !!!!
The Who at the Garden, when they played " We Don't Get Fooled Again ", was Tremendous, awesome. It seemed the song was playing for about 40 minutes long.
Elton John, "Yellow Brick Road" tour at the Garden. The piano is draped with a purple sheet, Elton comes out & starts with "Funeral for a Friend" and "Love Lies Bleeding"
I was very lucky as my best friend worked at a music store and knew when the concerts were going to be. We would go to Ticketron to get the tickets.
There was so much more I am forgetting about, probably due to the same birthday brownies that Sarge got on his birthday
What a Blast and there are bands I wish I did see in concerts, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Queen,Rolling Stones,Eagles, etc !!!
