i am living atm in Berlin. The first time i read about Wheat's Tigers and Rob Wheat was a couple of years after the reunification of good old Germany, when i got my hands on Douglas Southall Freeman's "Lee's Lieutenants: A Study in Command, Vol I-III" (still some of my favorite ACW books).

I have won the Jackson Scenario too. I too had a couple of crashes. I toned down my graphic settings slightly and that solved the problem for me.

I also think, that Rodes ratings are a bit too low, but it probably reflects the fact, that Gettysburg was his first experience commanding his own division.

Ah... Berlin is nice. Love all the new architecture and building going on. Very cool stuff. I'm from Louisiana and a big "fan" of Wheat. Dreux was actually the first grade officer killed in the Civil War. He's was killed on the Peninsula around the time of Big Bethel, and had the largest funeral in the history of New Orleans. Not a well known man, and was probably killed out of drunken hubris... but I remember him.

Rodes actually was commanding a division for the second time at Gettysburg. Although, I think you're right, that was the first time he officially led that division into battle. His efforts that day weren't great, but they weren't nearly as bad as Heth's actions and like A.P. Hill, he was sick as a dog and probably should have relinquished command. Hard thing to do though.

What a great scenario!

I shifted Dan Hill's attack to the left in order to concentrate on the extended line held by the XI Corps, and ended up running into most of the XI Corps and Geary of the XII Corps. Can someone say 'buzsaw'? I was able to press in and capture Barlow's Knoll along with the artillery, but ended up caught on three sides between the remainder of Howard's Corps on two sides and Greene, Candy, and Cobham falling on my left flank. All tolled, ten brigades (including Paul's brigade which was closing in on my right) were employed against me. All that was missing was Union cavalry to give me the full Cannae treatment. Outnumbered more than 2:1, I was fortunately able to withdraw most of my division at the expense of Iverson's which held just long enough. *Hat's off to my poor North Carolina boys*

Has anyone else run into the XII Corps early?

Also, though I haven't finished this particular battle yet, an hour in I have yet to see any of Jackson's other divisions. When do they generally show up?

I've played this one 2 times and got a MV both times 8900 and 9100. Both scenarios were totally different. 1st time it was the Blocher's Knoll and a VP in a field and the Cemetery. Never got to the cemetery but destroyed the Federal army. Got the first 2 VP's very early.

Second time VP was the Knoll and Seminary Ridge and just took to long to get those. But I got the Cemetery Ridge VP for 15min or so at the end. 9100 score. Tonight 10K for sure.

Dang, I pushed for a 10,000 Major Victory here. You guys are having it too easy. :laugh:

Well I managed 14,000 and some, but I ruined Jackson's Corps in doing it. Around 11,000 casualties to 12,000 Union.
I don't feel good about bloodbaths. I feel I should be able to do the job elegantly, and with as little loss as possible...but sometimes it just goes that way.
Art and war don't always mix!

Anyone else feel this way, or do most players just care about the points?

You know I really love the carryover scenarios because they really make you conserve your men and be as efficient as possible. I don't particularly care for blood baths either but this is how mine wound up. Not pretty.

All 4 divisions should have shown up around the hour mark. The last might come in a little later. I normally wait for the 3rd division to show up and then attack, but I won the scenario when I happened to attack with only two divisions, because Robinson's division motored off of Oak Hill to attack D.H. Hill down the road. Big mistake.

Sometimes all the Union troops get sent up to support against the Confederate attack so parts of Slocum's units get into mix once an attack has been perceived, I think.

Yeah. This is easily my favorite scenario so far. I think my score was somewhere in the neigborhood of 18996 or so. I was able to roll thru the initial XI Corps positions, and then chew up the I and XII Corps in detail as they advanced north of town to try and stem the tide. I wasn't able to take Cemetery Hill in the alotted time though, but just as well. XI and I corps both ended up stuck in town, and got pounded for their trouble.
