I guess I must be in the minority as I prefer the battles to be as historical as possible within the limitations and scope of the game and in most, but not all, believe that Norb's team has succeeded in this area. I anticipate the current inaccuracies will greatly improve with the next patch as well.
As to objectives, what about the possibility of having "time objectives": i.e. when an objective is held by one force for a certain length of time, it disappears and the holding force is awarded "X" points for its success? This could lead to more "fluid" battles where manuever becomes just, or more, important and potentially required to the success of one or the other side, as opposed to the current system where the key is to hold "X" objectives at the end of the game.
Just a thought or two...

Just isn't possible right now, because if the timer runs out on any objective, the game ends immediately.
