This looks like a good idea. I am however on GMT time and I guess the games would be played in the evening EST?

Not necessarily, I'm usually on earlier on the weekends. Seal and I were just playing this for the last hour (one half hour battle and a lot of maneuvering on the strategic map). But any two players can start their own campaign and play any time.

Hello, all and sorry for barging into the TS server while ya'll were conducting a battle!

I'll be buying the code to unlock the entire game as well as updating to the newest version tomorrow. Question is: what other software or mods or what-have-you do I need to have in order to play in Garnier's Campaign Mod? And, just to be certain, is this the same campaign that's got the separate web site and wiki? I'll think of some more stupid questions for later, but these will do for starters. Thanks!

All you need is the full game, updated to version 1.2 (latest patch).
If you haven't yet signed up and created your divisions, do so here:
http://www.sow.philipmcg.com/c/platte/p ... =view_home
Download the installer, unzip it, run it. It will lead you through making your divisions.
We have a game every evening around 7 p.m. est.

Thanks for the help! I'll be getting that done today, sometime ... other stuff on my plate. I'm sure no one else has other things to do, eh?
[added]I forgot to ask: the 'installer' is the "GCM Launcher"; right?

Okay. Have the TS server connection working, voice okay. Have the launcher installed, the tree mod and the minimap mod and have made my two divisions - one Union and one Confederate - and I think that as far as the mechanics are concerned, I'm ready. Never hosted a game in Gettysburg, don't quite understand how, but a couple of times maybe once walking through it and I'll be okay. Not certain that I can host, but I'll try, just have to choose an evening when I'm available for several hours in a row; right? I'm still working my way through the tutorials and for the life of me cannot understand the courier-delivered orders in terms of "which way do I face?" "Which way is the artillery battery" ... I'm sure, usual newbie stuff, but I'll get it. Oh and xfire works well with Gettysburg without any apparent conflicts or lag-making. Ran it for 45 minutes or so tonite and it's okay with the SP tutorial. In a real MP game, I wouldn't film but for several minutes while my division's brigade were engaged hot and heavy. So far so good :woohoo:

Any chance of having a digital copy (.png, .jpeg, even .bmp) of the map in the minimap mod? Reason I ask is because I'd like to print one out to use in the MP campaign to mark down the locations of units, etc and make notes about enemy units. Thanks.

Just noticed this bit about strategic map now, and have gone to the wiki, sounds interesting! I havent gotten much MP in over the last few months. I had thought this campaign mod was primarily a database for storing casualties over multiple encounters, seems its far more than that. Can you explain a bit more?

There are actually three iterations of Garnier's campaign. I'll leave it to someone else to explain in depth.
The "pick up" games we play every night are in the Platte Campaign, and those are the ones you and everyone else are used to hearing about.
The second campaign launched was Missouri, but it never really got off the ground. People signed up for sides under chosen commanders and it was largely like Platte but with a strategic element.
This latest iteration takes the strategic one step further, basically performing like an old hex-based strategy game might, and battles take place on corresponding spots on the map.
