Re: SOWGB Patch 1.3
1.99 gigs is small.. I have a fresh install of 1.3, and without the mods folder it's still 2.4 gigs..
So your game is still missing content.. Just want to confirm you re-download the full game GettysburgVer1_3.exe?

Re: SOWGB Patch 1.3
Installed 1.3 patch to orig game (recently purchased), didn't realize that there was a 1.2 patch that I had not installed over my org game.
1.3 seemed to install and work fine on mine (laptop, windows 7, 64 bit, 8 GB ram). Checked a GB scenario, running a saved bonus scenario game now.
Game now says that it's SOWGB 1.3
Qs - (Hopefully) Was the 1.3 patch 'all-inclusive' (include all previous patches in this patch?)
If not, request advise, over. (Bob, Bristol RI)

You're good to go. The 1.3 patch includes the 1.2 content.

Can you still get to the Validate screen from the fresh install?
If you hit Cancel does the Demo launch?
If it does launch do you get the funky graphics?

Thought I would weigh in here.Next, I dowloaded a fresh copy of the patched Game and installed to C:\ root.
Next, the previously mentioned 1.3 patch seemed to execute and I was presented with the Validate Screen. All seemed well.
When I exited this new copy of the game, I received a message indicating that the game didn't close correctly and the message to either search the net for a solution or Close Program.

Re: SOWGB Patch 1.3
Bet it's an antivirus app interfering with the install.

Answers to questions:
No, the demo does not launch. The screen goes black right after I cancel the validation.
Yes, if I run the SOWGB executable, the validation screen appears. Then all goes black in the same way as how my original game does installing first the 1.3 patch and now, with the 1.3 entire game.
About the anti-virus.... whatever is happening seems to be related to the patch since the game was running flawlessly until now. Fortunately, I played a battle just prior to the install.
My game is probably smaller than most since I did not do much in the way installing any mods except for a couple of OOBs.
I am going to disconnect my AV and try to run the game.

Re: SOWGB Patch 1.3
Turned off the AV on my system and ran the downloaded install again. Once again, it appears to work perfectly.
Attempted to load the game and still get the failure to load. I can't see any cause-effect between the failure to run and anti-virus program. BTW, my AV has allowed the new installs several times without any report of suspected problems or a virus.
I guess I'll go play with Flight Simulator for a while. I'll attempt to fly from Elmira NY to Gettysburg while I try to think up something new to try.

Re: SOWGB Patch 1.3
Going to grasp at a few straws here just for the process of elimination:
What version of Windows are you running?
Have you tried running the game as administrator?
Do you still have your 1.2 game download to try a clean install of that? I know it worked before but maybe something changed as a result of the 1.3 install. If it works we can definitely narrow it down to the 1.3 patch
Do you have enough room on your HD?
I know these are not likely causes but as an IT guy, if I were sitting at your computer, these are things I would try.

Re: SOWGB Patch 1.3
I'm a really tired at the moment, so I'll start this really small because I have no idea at what level you are at for PC's, and the OS's. Disable your Antivirus software until you get these small steps done.
1: Decativate your sowgb game
2: uninstall the game.
3: delete the entire sowgb game directory
4: empty out your username\application data\local\temp directory
5: empty your windows/temp directory contents.
6: clean out your window prefetch directory.
7: delete all registry saves up to your last good save. (this cleans up allot of HD space, if you don't know what I mean don't bother).
7: reboot
8: defag HD
9: reinstall the game.
10: right click on the main game folder called "NorbSoftDev", make sure READ ONLY is unselected (it will ask you if you wish to apply these new settings to all subfolders, and files, choose yes).
10 test the game in demo mode.
11: if it works, and plays now, install the latest patch (DO NOT activate the game just yet).
12: try the game again in Demo mode.
13: If it works, and plays for you, activate your game.
Like I said, I have no idea what level you are at technically so I could go further, but I won't until I know more.
later, and let me know how this goes.
