But, Norb! How can we evaluate the new stuff if it aborts? What was the whole purpose of this exercise then? The newer format just might be better but we'll never know!:(

I didn't know it would abort, that was part of the test, to see if everyone could get in. Since you and others can't, we can't switch. There's probably a ton of other people that can't too.

If anyone wants to look into the bug, there's a link at the bottom of the forum that brings you to the creators site. You could go in there and see if there is a fix or if the problem came up before.

It's faster and more like what we had over at MMG.
Not really being a computer techie, I'm sure there's an obvious answer, but you mentioned it is "more like what we had over at MMG."

Why is it we can't use the same forum software http://www.phpbb.com/ that MMG uses if you're looking to make a switch?

What Amish John said! ;)

That old MMG forum is pretty much the standard forum format on the internet and it LOADS one hell of a lot faster and with NO goofy problems.
I just don't see as others have commented and glorified on how great this format is.
Why is it so great?
Both MMG and this POS (IMO ) have smileys, they both allow avatars, they both allow imbedded photos and links. Just what is the advantage of this format?
Maybe its cheaper is all i can figure!
I don't get it!:S

Anyone else getting this error when trying to view the website.

I accessed the site the other day without a problem.

"Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site :

http://www.norbsoftware.com/Portal/inde ... a&iterm=41

Operation aborted "

The portal you list works, looks like the same we are using now.

Went back to Norbs' original post, it still aborts.

Sleeker? These pages are anything but sleeker compared to the MMG format...thats probably why these pages take so dam long to download. I myself can do without the bells and whistles if it means faster downloading times. I think the white background just makes it look better.

And what are these many more options? The karma thing maybe which i'll admit is a cool feature but might also might be available with other forum formats.

The reason we are limited in our forum options is that these forums are made to work with Joomla, the backbone of this site. phpbb is not. The agora forum is a port of their phpbb based forum to joomla, that is why I suggested it as an alternative.

It loads faster than the TC2M website for me actually. I'm using wireless too.
