Some of our kriegsspiel group has been playing some small MP games against the AI using couriers, and the lowest visibility settings. Martin
Martin James, sorry but what do you mean by "lowest visibility settings"?
Also would you know where i could find what a British infantry uniform looked like in 1863. i cant seem to find them anywhere. :pinch:

You can play with whatever settings you like. Soldier will still find something to complain about when he gets schooled. Now, he's holding turns hostage.
Ouch. . . your most ardent advocate, and yet you bash me? And on that rare (very rare indeed) occasion when the stars align just right and you (always with assistance, I should add) manage to get the better of me, I never complain.
Woe is me. I perhaps may never recover.

I'd be down for something like this. restricted vision and no talking unless by courier. thats what were talkin about ,right? we're not issuing orders by courier.
Yes, couriers for communication only, not orders.
I'm not sure Seal is able to properly communicate, but ordering "is his thing."

Yes I do mean HITS. In general we try & play with just the information & limitations that the real generals had. So all long march orders are given by courier for example. Also all communications between players, unless they are together, in which case they can chat using a comms programme. Based on advice here, we have started to use Teamspeak 3 for this.
When we are ordering tactical moves by brigades or regiments very close to us, we do use the toolbar buttons. But with the historical game setting, that does mean that a courier still needs to physically reach the target unit, and that does not always happen if the troops are under fire of course.
For British army uniforms c1862, suggest you try googling the 2nd China (or Opium) War 1856-60, and the 3rd Maori War 1863-66. See also the discussion here which does include a photo of an 1863 tunic among other things. Hope that helps.

Yessir that sounds like a lot of fun, and I would add that the teamspeak's whisper mode adds a lot to the realism of the battle. I try to use just orders to command my troops, but sometimes I do(by accident  ) hit a toolbar button, and I also like to play with HITS set to two yards, just enough to clear the dang leader flag from view when needed.
I'm looking forward to playing with you guys.
Just out of curiosity how do you handle artillery batteries?
Oh, and thanks for uniform link, something told me you would know were to find it, thanks again!

You'll be very welcome CoB4thTEXAS.
In terms of orders, we handle batteries just like a brigade. So distance move orders etc by courier, but if you're nearby use the toolbar for precise deployment, unlimber, fire etc.
