this rather large hole in the engine (which I'm shocked even exists with the proclaimed level of play testing done).
Proclaimed level of play testing? Curious.......

Sarge
I can hear it now:

Norb, "Okay, Sarge, while in melee start clicking the charge button and see what happens."

The Mad One, "Nothing happens." And he thinks to himself, "I will use this to dominate the game."

:woohoo:

Can't blame the test team for not finding it if we ourselves didn't for this long -- we've collectively spent far more time playing. It may be helpful to know what patch introduced it if it wasn't there always. I tested version 1.3 and the bug was there.
Fair enough. I retract my parenthetical statement. If I didn't like the game, I wouldn't keep playing it.

.... still needs fixing, though. B)

Ok, JWA, let me re-phrase...I won't be using this bug to my advantage. Nor do I think that MOST other players of our regular crew will...i did say most  . I seldom charge as it is (generally only when ordered to by whomever is the defacto commander of my army) and when i do it's "single-click" and hope for the best. But, you're probably right, there are probably folks who will form up and "machine-gun click" their way to victory. I also agree, for a new player on the recieving end, it could kill the MP game for them before they ever got a chance to enjoy it. I think too, that for new MP players who don't quite have a handle on MP command, it could be a quick fix to them for saving their rear ends ("if i get in trouble ill just uber-charge my way out") rather than learning how to be more tactically sound as a commander.

I can personally assert that I will NEVER use this bug as well as most other players. There is a simple solution to this problem until it is fixed though...

It should be easy to spot someone that is using the bug if in melee one side gets completely dominated while the other is almost completely intact. If that happens, we may have to simply ban that person from some future games.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a situation though where every person who loses melee complains that the other person cheated.

Sharpe it's really not easy to notice unless they use it a lot. I could click a couple times during the course of a melee and just do a little better, enough to win. (Not that I would).

Until it's fixed, either run away before someone gets close enough to melee, or trust them not to use it.

Don't worry I will not go after any of the new guys. Harmon and Sharpe sound like they might be good targets, though.

I can see it now... seal is just going to bum rush who ever he sees and everyone will just keep falling back so they don't get into melee with him, vacating the field lol!

I can only imagine what it would be like if we didn't have the new stamina rules (when you could run all over the map in column and not be very tired). Seal running in column and charging the first opponent he sees then immediately the next until he has run all over the map and column charged everyone. Then in his drunkin' frenzy he will attempt to column charge his own team mates. I can see Soldier having to stop him and bring him back to reality. Soldier screaming at him that he needs to get control of himself and to remember that he is English. Then Seal, crying, replies, "but I've never been there" and that he cannot remember his mother's face." Then at this point we all just log off from teamspeak.
