I whole heartily agree. It's the delivery system that is in question, not the product. Difficult part is trying to get people to actually separate the two would be very difficult, and next to impossible. The thing is that once people who have been wronged by Steam hear the word Steam, they actually forget all about the game itself, and concentrate of Steam, so in fact Steam, and the Game become one product.
Steam first, game second.

Something just occurred to me.
Does NSD have the staff to handle the extra workload if their game was picked up by Steam?

Michael, did you click on the link in Garnier's post? Steam is a no-go for SoW, apparently.

That's the thing about Greenlight. If it works, it will be a way of using popular opinion to circumvent the suits at Valve who didn't even have the courtesy to respond to Norb.
