I have Win8, and just tried about an hour (on "speed-up") or so using diff scenarios: first 3 scenarios were a custom scenario (but have played online/multi players using it many times, no problem), with only B&F on as a MOD (the version posted above on this page) and SOW crashed every time, within maybe 15-20 min of game time...I then tried a SOW sandbox single player, and it played an hour of game time with no problems...so, I went back to the same custom scenario, and this time it played almost 2 hrs before I shut it down...in ALL cases I had no other mods on...so, I really don't know what all this means, other than I can't risk using it when i'm hosting a multi-player game even if it's 50/50 it will crash (can't have 3-4 people 2-3 hrs into a 4hr scenario and then have everything lock-up)...

i'll keep testing, and checking here for any updates! I really really want this to work because of all the mods that have come out, this is the one we all want the most!!

Again, I certainly appreciate the efforts put forth in testing solutions for B&F and Win8 MP play compatibility issues.

Well, having said that, this may me my last gasp at finding a solution as I've run out of ideas. This new, and possibly final toolbar attempt, has been edited down to the toolbar basics. The toolbar is still intact along with all the extra info it provides, but no bugle sounds or flags, in addition, all the files have been purged of non essential data. No bugle sounds is probably preferable in MP play anyway.

Unzip to Mods folder, rename, overwrite or delete previous B&F Toolbar:
The attachment BFToolbar.zip is no longer available
Or, try this version with MP in the name, exclusively for MP play as all Atcommon and tcofficer commands are omitted (they don't work in MP anyway). Otherwise, same as the above version:
The attachment BFMPToolbar.zip is no longer available

so:

- BFMPToolbar (hopefully) will be for Win8 multi-player
- BFToolbar for Win8 solo play

- what about the B&F Toolbar posted at the top of this page? no longer needed? thanks....

Really the fore mentioned are both for Win8 MP play since SP play is not an issue here. I'd recommend just testing the B&F MP Toolbar since it purges out even more non-essentials that could possibly cause issues leading to MP game crashes. And yes, delete the first version, it proved unreliable.

Thanks Again for all the testing and support :)

Hi again, just a quick report on the MP Toolbar.

We've played TWO, 3hr battles today and NOT one single crash, Which is really good news. We'll keep using it and keep you updated on it. Many thanks for persevering with it and making the MP version.

H.

So far so good, maybe this last version will do the trick. I forgot to add that this last version also uses the Couriers & Maps compatible drills.csv file. So, to use both mods together do the following:
As stated in an earlier post...
...go into the Couriers & Maps/Logistics folder and rename the drills and gui.csv files. Enable both mods and test away, my preliminary testing showed no errors.

This combines both Drills files so most features should be available. The C&M toolbar, gui, is not necessary because the B&F Toolbar has similar features: hold line formations, artillery in front division formations, Corps level formations, etc.

per your: "...go into the Couriers & Maps/Logistics folder and rename the drills and gui.csv files. Enable both mods and test away, my preliminary testing showed no errors"

rename them to what?

Rename them something like.....
Xdrills.csv
Xgui.csv

This way it is very easy to go back and rename them without moving them.
