I pushed up behind Kemper and Garnet and took the angle. Held it for about half an hour as the rest of the attack was thrown back with huge losses. Finally my last regiment was driven back and I withdrew, leaving that accursed hill in the hands of the bluebellies.
I got a victory with 6,000 points

Oh! I'm not about to give up! The 7500 points for a Major Victory just got more interesting to achieve.
Shhh! (Don't tell anyone that my engineers are tunneling under the Corpse of trees to blow it into one big crater.) :side:

Turned that defeat into a Major Victory 8602 :cheer:, (the second time around), holding the VP 35 min. or so, losses; U-486 to C-586, the remainder left in good condition. Took a pounding from U-artillery the last half hour, but it was from over 200 yds, which did not amount to all that many casualties, just kept rotating regs. to recover from fatgue and morale loss even though they were positioned at stone walls. Decided not to charge annoying artillery, for fear of losing a reg or two. leaving the VP prone to counterattack that never materialized. Throughout the game sent messages back to Pickett for support, towards the end there was very few beatup friendlies left nearby. The initial assault (19-20 minutes from start) at the "copse of trees", won the day, combined with other friendy regs, captured U-regs and and several guns, routed the rest, the battle for the VP was pretty much over by 24 after the hour. Changed tactics when charging; Kept Armisteads regs TC'd in column to within a few yards of intended targets, switched to line then hit charge, made a big difference than staying in column. When a gap in the Union line opened up, slipped regs in column behind Union regs in melee, changing immediately to line unTCing when able, this really took the fight out of the Union troops. I have to admit the friendlies, really fought hard, making the win possible.

, Whenever there were opportunities to support friendlies without exposing my own regs too much I did so, always keeping my eye on the prize.

Well done! Sounds like a well deserved victory. You obviously have much more self control than I. I never miss an opportunity to charge the guns.

Thankyou, In my first try at GB17 went after those guns and lost some regs doing so, with only 5 regs I felt I coul"nt afford it and was satisfied to stay put.
