No I completely understand. I'm talking about long term here.
Right, we're asking for the short term. The request is that if the elaborate system can't be done in the current patch, please at least put in something simple so we can have mods until the next patch. We don't like the prospect of more waiting that could have been avoided.

Pretty much all of our discussion happens on teamspeak, so the team has no way to know how the MP community feels about things. Hence this request.

@MTG, as Soldier just said above, there's no MP reputation at risk outside this community. The only other MP is groups of two or three people who know each other outside the game and occasionally play MP. While that still matters, cheating wouldn't be an issue there.

There is no simple quick fix to allow modding in MP. By nature of the design used in MP keeping the games in synch fails with even small changes in the wrong place. It took the better part of a year of hard work to get the MP as stable as it is. We know from hard experience how easy it is to mess things up. Unrestricted MP modding also opens up the opportunity for subtle or blatant cheating. A 'Guns of the South' private mod would be obvious, but one that increased infantry accuracy by 15% would be nearly impossible to detect without examining the files.

I fully understand the desire to mod things for MP, having done a fair bit of modding myself.

We will do this, but we will do it to the quality standards you have come to expect from us and do it in a way that does not destroy the stability or the fairness of the MP system.

Perhaps if we had a files check or mods check system for those that enter game play. similar to those computers that get up grades and have checks to see if they are compatible. I don't know, just thinking out loud.

would be nearly impossible to detect without examining the files.
What the original post says is that we can already do this file examining, so for the current MP community, which is all the MP community there is now, there wouldn't be a problem. From what I hear, we won't be trusted and if you all are unable to make it secure in the current patch, we will be stuck with these gameplay problems indefinitely until the next patch. There hasn't been the least possibility acknowledged that the request of the community could make any difference.

I am sincerely disappointed. I guess that is obvious. I love this game and think that a lot of potential has been and will be wasted for little gain. I hope that if nothing else, our request here will at least result in mods coming a little sooner..

Thank you Norb for the battle logging which we asked for so long ago, which allowed us to have this current campaign.

Thanks all for trying, and merry Christmas.

What's the problem? You request allowed MP mods "as soon as possible" and as soon as possible will be the feature patch.

Put as simply as I can think of ... give us the ability to use Mods in MP and it takes the pressure off of YOU!

We know what we want and can tweak the game to our desires without bothering you with every gameplay complaint that comes down the pike. I think that would be invaluable to the dev team. As paying customers - we have spoken and we ask that you please prioritize implementing mods in MP.

Thank you.

What about a quick/easy/safe way to play the Demo with new players online?
One that doesnt involve de-activating and re-activating.
