Be warned that if you set the LOS to 2000 yards, then you have a high probability of major reductions in your frame rates with larger battles. The value was set at 1000 yards to provide a playable experience in larger engagements. We were able to get away with it on ECF as there were few artillery batteries present and only a moderate amount of troops.

Changing the LOS from 1000 to 2000 yards increases the area to be covered by a factor of 4. The LOS routine runs for every unit on the battlefield for every frame. Therefore the performance hit can be significant with an open map and a lot of units on the field.

Feel free to experiment, you can set up a mod and edit the weather=12 line (line 67) in unitattributes.csv to see what works for you.

Well for those of you interested in playing the stock game we are looking at doing just that tonight at around our usual gaming time 7-8PM EST. We will be playing a MP stock scenario, choosing one from Day 1 since today is the anniversary of Day 1 at Gettysburg. It will be great if we can play a battle from each day on it's actual corresponding day. Last year we played days 2 and 3 but a few days later than the correct days. Last year the the Confederacy won a VS Day 2 [Rose Woods] which was close and a co-op on Day 3. Can the Union step it up this year? Challengers wanted. Since hosts are in short supply, anyone that can host would be greatly appreciated. Meet in the TeamSpeak lobby at around 7PM EST if you are interested.

Note: we will also try to get the host to use 220 range rifles mod to ensure no gaminess with artillery.

Baldwin,

I hate you. I'll be at work until 2200 hrs. PST. I need a good laptop, since I am sitting there doing nothing, most of the time. It would be easy to play.

Well if your free on the weekend we may try to continue day 2 and 3 on Sat and Sun, times would depend on who's hosting those days.

Yeah we tried the 220 rifles mod (using the setup Rebbuglar gave, not Garnier's mod) and no luck on any of the MP scenarios (instant freeze/crash). Can the development team inform us of whether mods will work coupled with MP stock scenarios? Do they need to be moved to the 'work' folder? Will that fix it? Also, does only the host need the mod activated or do all joining players need it activated as well? Because we had just the host with it on.

Brother,

If I am screamingly lucky, I MIGHT be able to play on Sunday. The Gods willing, of course. My oldest Grandson will be here, and, of course, the planets will be aligned for him in his him-ness. We shall see.....

Baldwin,

Do you have a rough timeframe as to when day 3 might happen tomorrow? I need to let the powers that be know when I will not be available.

Also, I can host. I have many times in the distant past. With this new rig I have, it should run really well.

Oh I didn't know you could host. It seems I gave up hope too quick. We still haven't gotten around to Day 2 either, so maybe we can get to both of them tomorrow at around 4pm EST or so. If that doesn't work cuz of the holidays we can try again for July 5th on the usual 7PM EST (becoming a tradition to run it a few days late now anyway) :silly: Even if only a handful of players want to participate it should be fun.

I'm screwed now. Am committed to Family BS today and work the rest of the week. Good try though.
