I'm still baffled, yeah, everything should work with that 'gscreens' except the large courier screen.
Once we get the map expansion out, I'll ask some team members to look at it.

Not sure what that means, or where it is directed to.
born2see, one quick question...do you see the modded Splashscreens as the scenario is loading?
If so, then at least gscreens is seeing the modded Graphics/Screens folder.

Hey,
RebBugler – this has absolutely nothing to do with the current problem, but I changed the size of my
JumpMap, and also the size of the
CommandMap – and this caused a graphical problem with the in game
CourierMap .
I have had this problem for several months but haven’t had time to really research the matter.
This is not in relation to your mod, but something that I did!

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious. I'm pretty sure it's loading the Large Courier screen but it's not rendering (?) it correctly. From what I can see looking at the .dds files the files are the same except for the size of the text box. They both have a bottom section which shows the scroll bars, a red close button, and what looks like a menu icon. When the Small Courier screen loads correctly that portion is gone. When the Large Courier screen loads those are still visible. In both cases the text is filled in.
I tested this by first making a copy of the Large Courier Screen Mod, which has the same issues, and grabbing a stock .dds file. I renamed the mod POPUP_Courier.dds to POPUP_Courier.dds.old and the random .dds file to POPUP_Courier.dds. I then ran SOWGB and sure enough it loaded that file with the text superimposed over the top.

Hey, great, you're learning this modding scheme. Maybe you can figure this issue out, however, I must leave this for now...team obligations.
Remember, you must test the original gscreens file to really determine what is amiss and fix it right...should have told your to rename it before it was overwritten...alas.

I'm happy to keep working on this. I HATE when something doesn't work right. When you say the original gscreens file I assume you're referring to the one which originally came with the B&F mod. I have that file. From what I could see you removed the references to the POPUP_Courier.dds in the fix from last night.
I'll keep you posted.

OK. Here is what I've done since my last post. Just so you know I'm using the Large Courier Screen mod because it has the same problems as the Bugles & Flags mod but is cleaner because that's all it does. I'm using the first scenario of the Brigade pack, "Lost Avenue" because it's small, the courier message comes up right away, and I know it having lost many times.
I checked all the coordinates in the gscreens.csv file to see if they were mangled on my computer but they seem to be OK. I'm new at this modding stuff but I get the idea. I then decided to try it on another PC I have so I deactivated the copy on my laptop and installed it on the other desktop. Same problem.
These are two totally different machines. My laptop is a Dell Studio running Windows 7 Home Premium/64bit and my desktop is a 4 year old clone running Windows XP SP3. As far as I can tell they have nothing in common (I know both machines pretty well) except they reside in my house.
The one thing I haven't tried yet is to take the stock gscreen file from the SDK and just replace the POPUP_Courier.dds section and leave everything else in there, put it in the mod, and see if that works (I know you experienced modders are laughing at me but I'll try anything).
In the meantime I guess I would like to hear from someone who has it working to see what kind of system they're running.
Thanks
PS:The good thing about this problem is it's taken me from "cannon fodder" to a "grunt"

Well I've tried everything including Safe Mode (game won't run),disabling my 3rd party services and startup items, and trying different gscreen files. The fact that I have the same problem on two different machines (see above) tells me it's not that.
I guess I need some direction from those with a more intimate knowledge of the game engine and how it deals with controls. I know you guys are busy so I'm not looking for you to solve this issue just point me in the right direction.
Thanks
