Man, I hate to see what "further" is. ;)

Oh you know a few tweaks. I've come across a crap load over the years, and with windows, it's normally the same type of issue's (Bill Gates seems to have never really fixed the most basic of bugs which is why we keep going back to them).

You have to love linux, it's about the best software out there. Too bad you need a phd to work with it. :(

later.

Yea but it's Unix. Been open source for over 30 years but like you said it's not the friendliest software out there. In my industry Unix guys are the highest paid for that reason.

Cruiser – maybe we are going about this in the wrong direction.

Have you changed any of the settings with your Graphics Card \ Memory \ Virtual Memory \ Desktop \ Anything?

Right Click – on the Taskbar \ Select Task Manager \ does everything look right?

Do you have any programs running in the background that you haven’t noticed before?

How many Processes does it show running?

Do your memory showings look correct?

I guess I'll go play with Flight Simulator for a while. I'll attempt to fly from Elmira NY to Gettysburg while I try to think up something new to try.
Maybe we should give Cruiser a chance to try some of this stuff when he gets back from flying to Gettysburg. ;)

I have a TByte hard drive with 2/3 free. 8 gigs of ram. No other programs running.

Last I heard, Norb and others had said not to screw with the original game until ???? So I wait.

I run Flight simulator X with all settings maxed out without a hitch. I also ran SOWGB with very high settings without a hitch. Inf fact, I have never had an issue with Bull Run or 2d Manassas.

I will run the system analysis again to look for problems but I ran a check very recently without any issues.

Soon, I will probably have to resort to deleting SOWGB and attempt to deal with the re-validation procedure. I have another computer with even more resources that I cannot use to test the game because of the dreaded validation schema. That is a shame since I never play games on the web any more and I would be very happy to take SOWGB off-line.

But for now, I will give the Norb and his Tech Team time to do their thing.

I still would not mess with the original game. You can work with the demo install to figure out what is going wrong. Since you get the same exact error, there's no reason to mess with the original install.

I'm very confused, as since installing the patch nothing at all runs. So let's go back to before this patch. Since you now have two installs of the game, we will only talk about the demo install and get that running first. Because what ever fix we find for that will more than likely fix your original game as well.

Go to the sow site and download the old version, install that as the demo and see if that will run. That should be the same exact version you had running before.

Another thought - are you sure you are launching the demo version? Just want to make sure that your not using old shortcuts that point to the original install.

No, I am not using shortcuts at all for troubleshooting. I have not used a shortcut with SOWGB since the trouble started. I am running from the exe. file and checking the version very carefully.

I run the testing with admin rights.

Just finished running memory tests... will continue to look although I am running out of things to look at.

Try what Norb said and do a clean install of 1.2 from the download. If it works then we've isolated it to the 1.3 patch. It may seem obvious that the 1.3 patch is the problem but it's worth doing the 1.2 clean install to rule everything else out.
