My gut tells me there cannot be an official integration of CWBR and TC2M as these were done under a different company, and TC2M is still sold by Paradox. Maybe in a hush hush mod thing at some point? ;)

Actually Norb owns TC2M. But regardless, there are no limitations as to what battles we can do because no one has a copyright on The Battle of First Bull Run or 2nd Manassas. It wouldn't be a full integration, it would be our take on it. :)

I don't think you'd want to just arbitrarily port the old maps over, anyway. The detail in those maps was nothing compared to what seems to capable in new maps.

If that were to happen at least the greyscale file would be already done then its just down to creating a new texture plus all the other powerender files and adding new 3d objects. Probably easier said than done.

The heightmaps and grayscale files could be ported directly. That's enough to make the map playable. Ground textures could be generated automatically from the grayscale files, so they wouldn't need to be done by hand.

That leaves buildings and wooden fences which I assume will always have to be done by hand. They're not really important for gameplay though.

First: there is no easy way to bring those maps over to SOW.

Second: Why would you want to use the old when we can have new ones, and soon.

I know you guys are wanting more maps, and that is why this team was brought over here. All of us know that you guys want maps and we will deliver the goods. The idea of bringing the old ones over is a terrible idea, not that they were not good (I made 15 or so really good ones that look fantastic), we all should want to move forward with bigger and better maps, and not backwards. When I get bored on my current computer I dont go digging around the attic for my Commadore 64. Be Patient, great things on the horizon.

Quality.... not quantity!

The Mananas battlefield would make an excellent map. In terms of MP play there are places that would make any game interesting. For Mp play, a map with more terrain features (like first Mananas)is highly wanted(in my opinion). The maps that have a certain dominate feature in the center of the map gets played out fairly quickly. Everyone rushes to hold it. The battles become redundant.

No one wants to go back (whatever that means?) I'm just saying Mananas is a great map.

Chickamauga, with 80% of the battlefield covered in trees, would be a great map. ( I have never seen the map made for TC2M).

I agree, it would be cool to see the 1st and 2nd Bull Run stuff (maps and scenarios) converted to this engine. Plus it would be our take on it, not the MMG team. :)

This is a very positive development.

Can I suggest Wilson's Creek, Pea Ridge and Prairie Grove.

I'm a fan of the Trans Mississippi. Different armies, and the south sometimes even has more men. Also rather different terrain.
