As far as I remember the sky file was one of the files that could be modded and placed back into the map file.
The file is called strato and is located in the lsl file.

Well, since there is no lsl editor, its not possible to paint much for the graphic environment apart from the trees/foliage mapped to the maps, the rest is in the lsl.
Bright environment textures on a dull sky dont really balance too well. It 'aint easy.

You don't need a
lsl editor to edit the
strato.dds file, so it is possible considering that I was doing it before the map-tools were released.

I've no idea what you are talking about Davinci - strato.dds? - where is that?

It is located in the
lsl file just like
you stated above.
Most of the files that are in the
lsl are
locked and cannot be edited or changed without crashing the game.
This is one of the files that have never been locked, so it is possible to edit the
strato.dds file with any type of Program such as...Photoshop - and place it back into the
lsl file.
Basically, the same program that was used in the previous game to extract the files in the
lsl can be used on these maps.
It is called the
LibEdit program. So, if
you have a copy of LibEdit - drag the
lsl into it, extract the
strato file - edit it - and place it back into the
lsl file.
I haven't done this since the release of the
Map-Tools, but I tested exactly which files could be extracted when the game first came out.
I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know - but make a back-up-copy of the
lsl file before doing this, just in-case something goes wrong.

@Jolly - Hey, I forgot to mention this, Do Not change the order of any of the other files that are in the lsl file, such as extracted all of them and placing them back into the lsl file.
This will cause the game to crash, I never figured out exactly why, but I think that it had something to do with the time that the files were placed into the lsl file.
So, extract only the strato this never did crash the game.
But, then again, as long as you have a back-up - feel free to experiment as much as you like. That's what I do, I try to change anything and everything just to see what happens.

It took a bit of experimenting, but after some really helpfull pointers from Davinci, I've got a first tentative sky texture into the game!
Thanks again Davinci

No problem Jolly you do some excellent work with the various graphics files.
It appears that by the shape of the strato that it was designed to rotate, but it doesn't as far as I can tell.
It would be nice to have a moving sky effect in the game.
What did the sky look like before you edited it?
Sort of a before and after picture!
