It's just weird. It's not like I haven't moved stuff around this game before. I've got to have missed something. I hate that. Grrr....
Well.....My definition of modding has always been...

Spending ten-hours trying to figure something out…..

And, then spending eleven-hours trying to undo everything that you just spent ten-hours doing!

DaV,

Finally got them into the game. Damn. Couple of things - I noticed they don't show up in the unitglobal file. Is that significant?
How do we get them to show up as a unit?
How do we get them on the British side? I tried just changing the _USA_ to _CSA_ but that didn't work. Too easy, eh?
Also, they only seem to show up on one OOB.

Thanks again.

I just copied them into one of the unitglobal files from the Napoleon Mod to see if it would work.

So, I'm not sure what the correct answer is here on that question.
How do we get them to show up as a unit?
I would say to create a unit in the unitglobal file. But, you already know that. I'll have a better answer after the storm pass-over in Tennessee. time for Computer to turn off.

I'm not sure which side is which in the Napoleon game.

Probably due to Me only adding them into that one unitglobal file for that particular unit.

I'll report back in several hours.

Jack - Yes, they have to be in the unitglobal file to work.

The line that started with GB_LINF - I just placed the units inside of that line, which was under the British heading in that file:

Example :

unitglobal
,BRITISH,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
GB_LINF,1,,,4,8,USPR_BR_Gre_H_01_Private,USPR_BR_Gre_H_01_Private,USPR_BR_Gre_H_01_Private,,,,SFX_Inf_Walk_1,SFX_Inf_Stand_1,SFX_Art_Load_1,SFX_Art_Ready_1,SFX_Inf_Fire_1,SFX_Inf_Run_1,SFX_Inf_Charge_2,SFX_Inf_CSA_Melee_1,SFX_Inf_Prone_1,GB_OB,GUI_LINE_LVL6_Inf,GUI_CS_LVL6_Friendly,GUI_CS_Enemy,DRIL_Lvl6_Inf_LineFight,DRIL_Lvl6_Inf_Column

But, I'm probably not the best source on the Napoleon War - as to which unit goes where.

Also - the firing sequence will have to be fixed before they are ready for combat!

DaV,

ALL good. Saw the GB_LINF line but didn't make the connection. Good deal. Yes, I think I can get them to work. Going to try retarding the reload times in the rifles.gfx file and see if that might work. There is a Brown Bess Musket in there. We'll see. Awesome help!

Jack - I tried cutting the two sheets into eight sheets but that didn't work, the units just turn-in-circles and shoot......WOW

So, I went back to the two-sheets and tried placing the Stand graphic in place of the units firing too-fast ......That Actually Worked .....Can't figure out why it worked!

Conclusion - I'm going to try to fine-tune it so that it isn't as much standing between shots.

DaV,

You're awesome.

I finally got the troops on the field, once "Day of the Idiots" finally stopped here at the house. Appreciate all the help. Now, time to get some more troop types in. LOL!

Oh yeah - now I've got to figure out how to get rid of the Officer next to the flags. LOL!

Hmm, I'm not sure who you are referring to, What Officer and What Flag ?

EDIT Post : To add this:
................................

Hey, check to make sure that the unit is falling (i.e..dead) during combat. I haven't seen one of those soldiers on the ground during my experiment.

DAV,

Good Morning!

Will post a pic of what I'm talking about here in a bit. Will put together a quick fight in a bit and check on dead Grenadiers.

Question - Did you make any actual changes to the Graphics Files you used? I ask because I tried to bring over a different type of Infantry last night. I changed all the files in the same way you did, new names and all that, but got almost the same issues I did before when I did it on my own. As best I can tell, the Graphics files for the Grenadiers, (the ones you used), and the regular British Infantry are identical except for the picture, (ie: infantry type). Therefore, extrapolating on that, changing all the Graphics and Logistics files to reflect the new names, etc, should have produced the same result - except it didn't. Strange.

Will post pics in a bit.

OK, for some reason or another, the Union Troops just wouldn’t shoot any of those guys wearing red, so I might have messed up somewhere with the death file.

Negative , other than trying to make the eight shooting files from the two files, but I didn’t give you those files.

It’s probably just something that you are over-looking!

Hey, Zeke or gunship is going to have to explain how the Fire files are working, it’s way over my head.

Once they do, the Fire files can be cropped and placed into eight different files.
