American Rev. War mod anywhere??

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

ok...I'm getting closer...I can get the OOb_SS_NAP_ARW_SR8 to load...but, all the men are CW figures?? (flags are French & British)...so, I guess what I need is:

- exactly which MODS should be "on"
- any suggestion as to which map to pick? (does it make a diff)
You need at least the Road To Wagram mod. I also suggest using the KS Napoleon mod which makes the fighting much more Napoleonic, (combined arms), and less Fredrickan, (ACW). Also most of the maps in the KS mod have been converted for better nappy play.
The KS Napoleon mod comes with 4 OOBs. They all end in "Full." Try one of those.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

All,(and especially JohnW),

I APOLGIZE TO YOU ALL FOR BEING A TOTAL IDIOT. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. YOU DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT HAVE TO RUN THE NAPMODS TO MAKE THIS WORK. I AM SO SORRY.

I had completely forgotten I had condensed this into it's own, self-actualizing, Mod. Undo all your Mods and just run this one, all by itself. I just ran it that way on my comp and it's fine. Damn, how stupid....

John, all maps are good. However, with the small size of the armies, I used the stock, original maps.

Don - I would be happy to provide them to you and others. However, there are some issues regarding them which I have not and probably will not be able to iron out - i.e: certain dead guys and such. Also, I have not converted ANY of the Russian sprites nor the French Cuirassiers, (yet). The converted sprites would take up 2 disks at least, but I would do it. I'm sure there would be problems, there is a lot of difference between the TC2M system and SOWGB.

Let me know.

John,

Did you set all uniforms to "Best"? Since my comp can handle it, I only did the high-res sprites.

Note - that has to be it. I just ran the Mod with uniforms at Low, Medium and High and it's a no go. Check you uniform settings in "options" and make sure it is set on "Best."

Let me know.

THANKS!

that was it; seems to work fine now...hopefully i'll get a chance to play in next day or so...now that "I'm up", what map MOD(s) would you suggest? (any pref)...I just tried using other toolbars (GCM, etc.) and they seem to work as well...

Jack: I appreciate your candidness. I'm still interested, because they were major problems trying to add the other scenes after I successfully downlo9aded one of them. I never even got to see many of the scenarios.

John,

Glad to hear it. No suggestions on Map mods. One of the true beauties of this game engine is the ability to experiment with all kinds of stuff within the game itself. Cruise around, try different stuff. See what works for you. I'm just glad the damn thing is running.

Don - Understood. Right now the mod folder I have all this in is 3 gigs. I'll possibly do the French Cuirassiers later this week. Yes, there were issues with a number of the files. I have spent the time to iron those out. Let me know. SOMEWHERE I have a thread about what I could and couldn't do with the Frederick the great sprites and issues there-in.

Note to all - I still run my "Ghost Unit" mini-mod with the Artillery. I like the cleaner effect of no guidons on each gun. It's easy change it back if you want.

Hi Jack. Your 'Ghost Unit' mini mod sounds cool. Like you I would prefer do without all of the artillery guidons. Might help me see the wood for the trees!

I couldn't see it in the official mod list though. How could I get it please?

Regards

MJ,

It's not in any official listings. I did it for the NapMod Guns which now include the Rev War Mod, too. I can actually post it here, (it's small enough), but I can't remember if I did it for the ACW side of the game. I will check it out and let you know.

Many thanks Jack. I've heard similar comments from others in the kriegsspiel group, so it might be of wider interest.
