Alessillo,

I continue to thank you every day for this mod. Am currently running 3 different battles/Campaigns, which I switch back and forth from. Have also done a 1705 OOB, (almost finished), to get a slightly different Army aspect going, (Thank You George Nafziger). Will post it eventually.

Question - was rooting around in the Logistics folder the other day and finally noticed the two different drills.csv files - what are the differences? Read thru them a time or two but can't see any difference. I am talking about the drills.csv and the drills_60_yards.csv files?

Hi Jack,
Thank you very much for your words, if you use drills_60_yards.csv all infantry units in the game will retreat when the enemy arrives at 60 yards, I made this modification to reduce melee combat and lower the amount of casualties, I made some test battles but in the end I left the usual drills.csv. You can try and see if drills_60_yards.csv is better.

Cheers

I have been using this since Norb put it into the drills file, one of Norb’s many great improvements towards making the game play better.

I have always had mine at 100 yds , but it is extremely rare that the units will ever engage in melee fighting.

A slight-cheat to this is that one or both regiments will retreat when they reach this distance, but if the player Takes-Command of this regiment, they will stay in place while the enemy unit retreats.

Once the enemy unit has stopped the player can un-take-command of this regiment. If you do it before the enemy-unit-has-stopped, your regiment will also retreat.

Thank you Gentlemen! I thought since they were both in the Logistics folder, they were running concurrently in some fashion or another. Excellent. I'll just leave it alone then.

Onward!

Hi, I love this mod. An intriguing time period to say the least. I'm having a few issues. The first is I can't modify my oob's like I did before. I use OpenOffice and it seems to screw the columns up to make it difficult to mod. They don't line up and names are separated etc. The second issue is changing sprites. I noticed in the unitmodel.csv, under logistics, there is a GREEN_Inf_01 entry which seems to match existing green soldier sprites. What are these and can they be added to the game. If so, how? I hope this makes sense. I recently returned to this game and this great mod.I'm using windows 8 and OpenOffice like I mentioned before. Thank yopu.

Hi 9thBtnMOS,

Thank you for your words.
If you want to use the infantry with green uniforms in your oob, you must use WA_Inf_1 that is present in the unitglobal.csv file; I have windows 7, I use OpenOffice to make my oob and I have no problems.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to be clear, I'm supposed to be modding the OOBs with SB in the name, correct? Then put the modded OOBs in a folder to be placed in the Mods folder. The problem I'm having with OpenOffice is the spacing. There is a column for every word and it messes up the rows. It did not do that when I had vista. Also, and this is off topic but I'm having trouble updating my game. When I update it gives me an ERROR with the FTP. Thanks

Hi Alessillo, I sent you a PM concerning re-use of parts of your mod in another mod I'm working on. I'm posting here because the PM notification on the forums isn't obvious.

In addition - if anyone has contact details for Alessillo and is aware he isn't reading the forums any more, would you kindly let him know i would like to contact him?

Thankyou.
