WOW!! just played the tutorial shame I had to fight my own boys! loved it Norb, superb sim, needs a few tiny tweaks sound wise, had my new pc turned up so i could compensate for low sound.

The fields of wheat are wonderful, loved the trees and the rocks, and what about those wonderful stone walls wow! and talking of wow the artillery sound is super!

well done to Norb and the whole team for another winner! :cheer:

Wow the confederates suk in multiplayer totally unbalanced sides. You're almost forced to let your cannon win the day as the infantry is worse than conscripts lol.

Love the Gettysburg demo, guys. Great work! I got my butt kicked all over the place by the AI, but sure had fun nonetheless.

No lag on my system, but then again I've got a core i7 monster rig.

The only thing I've noticed for improvement is the muted battle sounds.

Great work on the terrain. I found myself saying "And there's that cool rock formation in Devil's Den, and there's Round Top, and Little Round Top", etc.

Looking forward to purchasing my license. :)

Downloaded and played demo late last night about 3 hours after the release. My feedback so far is about the same - the sound was very muted, it got a bit better when I was directly behind a regiment cycling through the units with the arrow keys, but as soon as you raised the camera even a little bit it very quickly muted to inaudible levels. Got my butt kicked, but then it was very late and I was getting tired. Been out all day so far and just got home, so I'm signing out and going to go play again now. Let you know in a few hours how it turns out.

Many thanks to Norb and the team - I can't wait to send you my money!!!!!

So, we're all sort of Beta-Beta testers?

Cool.

Not really. Since it's out there's no reason not to have it be the official release. It does not seem that there are any show stoppers that prevent people from playing. Many comments confirm that the single and multi player games are working well. I think we'll take everyone's comments and just move them to a patch. We didn't expect it to be perfect, but we're impressed that it's going so well.

I must put in my little bit: (Note: first time with game)

After some 45 minutes of gameplay, where I must have completely befuddled the AI when instead of letting Archer come to me and getting torn up, I mistook his regiments fallbacks for retreats and advanced pell mell at them. I then destroyed them with all five of my regiments (I must say, the courier system was a little off, there was a time when I had been playing for half an hour and the advisor says, congrats, you won the first battle!). Taking up a good position along the fenceline bordering the Rose Woods and the Wheatfield, for some reason, Pettigrew moved across my front and into the Trostle Farm area, while the remainder of Archer assailed my front. This resulted in a 25 minute long firefight in which Archer was sent to the rear. I changed front to the right and quickly demolished Pettigrew's brigade with the help of Meredith in the Trostle Woods. Then, with Meredith's regiments going towards Cemetary Hill, I realized that he had left Hall's battery wide open (though it subsequently tore down Brockenbrough or Davis, I can't remember at the moment). Reversing front, I met Davis (or Brockenbrough) with Archer's regiments falling into the rear. I noticed that the confederate brigade charging through the Wheatfield was getting really close to my line, and I died trying to rally my boys while they were engaged in melee. A good battle, I must say.

Some thoughts:

Trying to move regiments with the pathing was a severe annoyance (though very historical, so I applaud you).

The pointer - can we get back a regular pointer? Please? Sometimes I can't find it.

The woods are rather dense, and the camera angle is terrible going through that. Then, when I click the t button a few times, some places there are still a lot of woods, and other, there are almost none.

Due to my sudden advance, Wadsworth left the Emmitsburg road wide open, and reinforced me with Meredith, who I really didn't need. What usually happens?

It would be nice to have more objective markers. Otherwise, I have no clue where I'm supposed to go, what to defend, etc.

Overall, I would say the combat is better than TC2M, but my experience was quite clumsy, with regiments engaging in the line of sight for a little bit, then not. Frankly, it was difficult to keep a regiment engaged for more than five minutes, the combat was back and forth (on the part of the enemy, not me). I think that the major problem is the camera angle, which doesn't allow for any above terrain sighting. There was a time that I lost a regiment in the woods and was too engrossed in the scenery to unshow the trees.

Bravo!
