" Did you also make the appropriate oob changes in scenario.csv?"
I think that is all I'm missing now. In my modified OOB I've changed some weapoms and troop numbers. So I have to make alterations in the OOB in the scenarios.csv also? This is what is confusing me over and above what I was used to in TC2M, where there was an OOB in the scenario folder, and you just changed troop numbers and weapons in excell. Now the scenario sub folder seems to have an OOB, but without weapons designated, but wants an OOB reference at the "master" line to read.
Sorry, but it is quite confusing.
Like I said, I'll just wait for the completed manual if you think I'm beyond help!
Don't want to waste your time.
In any case thanks to you, Marching Thru Georgia and to RebBugler for the help so far. It is quite fun trying to crack it!
Much appreciated.
SOWGB SDK v1.0
Re:SOWGB SDK v1.0
I'll explain the reason behind this design. Many times during our research, we wanted to change a unit. With 20 scenarios and the tutorials, it because a major drain to have to mod every file to make certain changes. So we went with the design that our scenario.csv files would read from the master oob files.
Now the secret to getting around that....
Create a sandbox game, get out. Go to work/scenarios/sandbox
In there you will see the format of the scenario.csv file that does not use a master oob

Or do I need to create one from scratch and put it in as a sub folder in a named mod in the mods file, together with a Logistics sub folder with my rifles values?
Doesn't help me get my head round modding the stock scenarios. I'm not getting the relationship between a modded OOB and the scenario.csv OOB content. But as you advise in the manual "work in progress"...take small steps. Perhaps I should do that and wait until the finished manual comes out.
By the way, I understand the design rationale behind the "scenario.csv reads master OOB" move...cuts down editing...but, like I say, I clearly haven't figured the relationship betwen a modded OOB and the scenario.csv sub folder.
Thanks for the pointer though.
Ah! That looks more familiar. So, can I mod that oob directly??? If so, where is the Logistics folder it reads from so I can play around with rifles?I'll explain the reason behind this design. Re:SOWGB SDK v1.0
ScottishSoldier:
If you made any changes to the weapons in rifles.csv,(added a new one, changed an existing weapon characteristic, etc), then the modified rifle file goes in the logistics file. If there are any changes to the OOB, (added/deleted some units, put artillery under division command, gave a regiment a new weapon, etc), then the modified master OOB file goes into the OOB folder. If you changed the number of troops, morale or fatigue for the scenario, these changes go in the scenario OOB, (scenario.csv). Also if you added/deleted some units, put artillery under division command, etc in the master OOB then these changes must also be made in the scenario OOB.
This is different from TC2M. It's really an improvement. Now we can create a master OOB of our heart's desire, then use it for all our scenarios. If we want to change the status of our troops morale, fatigue, how many are fit for duty or which regiments to exclude from the fight, we only have to change those few numbers and lines in the scenario OOB.
Once you figure out the basic structure you'll never want to make another mod for TC2M.

Got you. I was almost there, but I hadn't recognised where to make some of the changes.ScottishSoldier:
