American Rev. War mod anywhere??

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

MJ,

Yes. If the stupid factor in my life settles for a bit, (Ha! Fat chance there), I might be able to knock it out tonite.

Jack B)

New Info - Okay, I've created a mod for the ACW side of this also. Now, 2 things, 1 of which is very important - First, I can't seem to make the Flag Finials for the ACW version go away. I don't know why. They are gone in the NapMod version. However, they are almost invisible, so it's your choice. Second, (and importantly), If you use this mod, you must edit every single one of you artillery lines in the OOB to reflect the "Ghost_Unit" flag aspect. The Mod itself will not, repeat not, do it for you. You must replace each flag name with GFX_Ghost_Unit for each Gun.

So, let me know if you want this and I will post it. It does have to be in a Mod folder, unless you want to add it to an existing "Logistics" folder in an existing Mod.

Jack-
Thank you again for your willingness. If you're saying you'd need to mail them, I'll be glad to cover Shipping & Handling. Do you not think they would be of interest to a wider SOW audience?

Don,

Yes, I can mail them. No, you don't have to cover shipping and handling. Yes, I think there may be a number of people interested. Maybe one of them can figure out why the early infantry sprites, (Prussians, Austrians, French, Bavarians), dead guy sprites don't fall all the way to the ground. Also, I have not converted the various Hussar (Light Cavalry) sprites and am not sure if I will. (I say that, but I now I will at some point). I'll put these on disks here and send them off. PM me with your actual address.

MJ - Will post the Ghost_Unit files today. B)

MJ (and others),

Here are the gfx.csv files for the Ghost_Unit artillery flags.
The attachment gfx_2013-12-20.csv is no longer available
This first one is for the NapMod. Please let me know right away if it doesn't work. I've changed SO MANY things in my version of the game I can't keep track of them all.
The attachment gfx_2013-12-20-2.csv is no longer available
This next one is for the ACW side. It will work for both Federals and Confederates.

(BTW, all Ghost_Unit changes can be used to replace ANY flag you want to go away, i.e: Officers and such).

So, as best as I can tell, this should work straight away. I recommend you create a Mod folder in the Mod section of the game. Then create a Logistics folder within that one. Put the gfx.csv file in that. Activate. Remember, you have to edit each field gun/Howitzer in the OOB to a Ghost_Unit flag for this to work.

Hi Jack

Having trouble getting either to work. Now I know from past experience that this is almost certainly me

Any ideas?

MJ,

Okay, let's what we can do here.

Are you running a "stock" or "Factory" game OOB? This didn't occur to me until just now. My Ghost_Units for the NapMod are "built-in" to the existing Mod itself. For the ACW side, I always work with "custom" OOBs in a Mod folder. I just tried to alter an OOB in the SDK Folder and nothing happened. Try this - Create a Mod Folder for ACW OOBs. Copy a random OOB into it. Change one of the Guns to a Ghost_Unit flag. Activate the new Mod folder. Let me know if that works.

Many thanks Jack. I kept tinkering with it, and have now figured it out.

Much improves the look of the game IMHO :) .
