You're welcome Zeke. Thanks very much for creating the sprites. They're a really nice addition to the game.

Update time Folks: Well got a little diverted this week on some other work but back on the case now, I have about 6 OOBs done for Atlanta so going well but working on a humongous OOB at the moment!!! :pinch:

Anyway I plan to release a few smaller OOB Packs while Atlanta is cooking! Like Knoxville last week and soon Red River will also be released although I'm hanging back for 2nd Texas' map pack which RebBugler is kindly releasing for us :) Many thanks RB!

In the meantime my next mini-campaign will be a doozy!!.....

Its September 1864... After evacuating Atlanta, the newly promoted Confederate commander General John Bell Hood is reorganizing his demoralised force at Lovejoy's Station, south of Atlanta. In a surprising move Hood's nemesis and conqueror of Atlanta Major General William T. Sherman now chooses not to pursue Hood's Army of Tennessee.

On September 21st, Hood moves north to Palmetto, Georgia, where he meets with Confederate President Davis on September 25th. Davis and Hood devise a plan to send Hood's 39,000 strong force north towards Chattanooga, destroying Sherman's supply lines back to Tennessee along the way. However the wily Sherman is alerted to Hood's intentions when President Jefferson Davis un-wisely reveals the plan in a series of speeches on his way back to the Confederate capital in Richmond. Sherman now responds by sending his best and most senior field commander Major General George H. Thomas to Nashville to organize all of the Union troops in Tennessee. He also sends additional troops to reinforce the garrison at Chattanooga.

In October, Hood's infantry and Major General Joseph Wheeler's cavalry conduct a series of raids along the Western & Atlantic Railroad, Sherman's main supply line from Chattanooga to Atlanta but Sherman's men quickly repair the damage however they are unable to keep pace with their faster moving foes. Hood now see's an opportunity to crush part of Sherman's army it's an opportunity that the ever-aggressive commander cannot pass up.

However unbeknown to the Confederate high command Sherman has now convinced US Grant that his time would be better spent "making Georgia howl." He therefore embarks on his famous 'March to the Sea' commenting that if Hood goes to Tennessee "I'll give him rations". Consequently, Sherman turns the pursuit of Hood over to Thomas and about 60,000 soldiers, 30,000 of whom are in the Nashville and the other 30,000 troops are commanded by Hood's former WestPoint classmate Major General John M. Schofield seeing the danger Schofield now moves north to join Thomas in Nashville. Hood moves into Tennessee, where he hopes to defeat Schofield before the two Northern armies can be united......

The OOB pack will feature the three main battles of the campaign:
  • Springhill
  • Franklin
  • and Nashville
Should keep you busy while I work on Atlanta B)

Regards

Just for clarification regarding the Peninsula Campaign, is 1.6 required? Or will 1.5 also work?

I guess I just answered my own question. I have 1.5. I then deselected all modifications except for the Peninsula Campaign. Crashed. So I'll get 1.6

Back to the drawing board. Version 1.6 has been officially installed. The Peninsula campaign is the only Mod selected, and the game (Gaines Mill OOB) crashes each time I try it. What am I missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I really should have gotten more sleep before I posted anything, and then it would have helped if I had read the instructions carefully. I now have the Bugles and Flags XII downloaded and everything is fine.

Please move along, nothing to see here. :)

cliometrician - Zeke - posted this on the first page of this topic:

Instructions:

Ensure you have the latest patch of SOW installed.
Ensure you have download Reb Buglers "Bugles and Flags" mod the latest can be found here www.norbsoftdev.net/forum/modifications ... flags-xii- DO THIS FIRST before installing my mod drop into the mod folder and then activate in the modifications section.
Download my mod.
Drop "Valley Campaign of 1862" into the mod folder.
Open the game and select the new "Valley Campaign of 1862" mod now showing in the Modifications section
Now go to Sandbox and all the OOBs will be showing I have done them in numerical order of which they ran in the campaign.

Very Important: when not playing the campaign please deselect the MOD in the Modifications section

So - Do you have the latest copy of Reb's Bugles and Flags Mod Installed?

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Hi Cliometrician

Hopefully this is working now for you now.

However to clarify:

I would always advise installing the latest game patch although should work with 1.5

The OOBs here do require the latest version of Reb Buglers excellent Bugles and flag mod being installed first (and activated in the mod section)

Then download and activate my mod there are a few OOB packs posted here now so if you are not playing my mod i.e maybe playing some of the excellent official in-game scenarios go into the mod section and disengage as this can effect game play in the official game if left active. Also only activate one of my OOB packs at any one time as multiple activated OOB packs may cause a conflict.

regards
