Having never played MP'er, this is all very interesting.
A worst case scenario. What if a large VP type battle is chosen and during the course of that battle the VP changes hands multiple times which resets the VP timer multiple times. Also, as most of you know even if the enemy is seemingly cleared off the map there's always a bunch of isolated enemy regiments rallying in the woods ready to cause harassment problems. I can see how a battle could literally last for hours and hours maybe even for the better part of a day without a time limit of some kind whether it be VP related or something else. Can't say if this would be a good or bad thing!
Bear with me i barely know enough about MP to even ask questions. So here's some probably dumb questions for you MP'er Pros:
-Are you guys saying a player can drop out of a game without forfeiting?
-Will the time needed to hold a VP be considerably less than for a stand alone battle?
-Will the game automatically end when the VP timer times out?
-Will there be a strict unconditional time limit on battles which supercedes VP timers?
--If so, will a winner then be declared based on points, casualties, etc.?
-What about server band width bottle necking due to multiple extremely long battles?
--Or will only one battle at a time be allowed?
-Basically, how will the battle finally end?
-Will non-VP battle options be allowed?
-Will all MP battles be OP only?
-Will players be able to see enemy units on the map out of LOS view?
--(The AI in TC2M can only see the player's units if they're within LOS which
---is the reason Division Commanders wander all over the map. This is
----a gigantic advantage for the player in TC2M)
-Will their be lower aerial limitations to vew the map?
-Will some of this stuff be negotiable before the game starts?
--Or will there be standard battle parameters for tournament consistency?
So many questions, so little time!

Re:Question about "retreating" screenshot
Ahhhhh I don't know the answer to most of the questions. No one has played a game enough to know. Most of this stuff will come out in testing.
-Are you guys saying a player can drop out of a game without forfeiting?
Yes, anyone can drop out and it should not affect those that want to keep playing
-Will the time needed to hold a VP be considerably less than for a stand alone battle?
TBD
-Will the game automatically end when the VP timer times out?
If that is how it is set up to end
-Will there be a strict unconditional time limit on battles which supercedes VP timers?
If that is how it is set up
--If so, will a winner then be declared based on points, casualties, etc.?
TBD
-What about server band width bottle necking due to multiple extremely long battles?
Length has nothing to do with it. I use a good network library, but we have not stress tested it yet
--Or will only one battle at a time be allowed?
I get it
Server is run on a players computer for this first version of the game. There are no game servers, so it's up to the players to have a good connection.
-Basically, how will the battle finally end?
However you set it up on the server
-Will non-VP battle options be allowed?
Yes
-Will all MP battles be OP only?
No
-Will players be able to see enemy units on the map out of LOS view?
No, it will work like the regular game
--(The AI in TC2M can only see the player's units if they're within LOS which
---is the reason Division Commanders wander all over the map. This is
----a gigantic advantage for the player in TC2M)
Why? The player can only see units in LOS as well. Thought it was equal.
-Will their be lower aerial limitations to vew the map?
Might be an option
-Will some of this stuff be negotiable before the game starts?
Yes, it all will be, first screen is the options/chat
--Or will there be standard battle parameters for tournament consistency?
No tourney support in the first game, so it's up to the players to enforce this
