Brothers,

The units in question have been integrated so there are several types of Sprites in each unit, as Longstreet has requested. The screenshot is an early one, when I just had basic units going to see if they work.

Crikey - Since the sprites have been converted over from TC2M, I'm not sure just using the Folder I have posted will do the job. Give it a shot. Also, I only did Hi-Res sprites. However, on the bright side, I believe the Mod is a stand-alone, requiring no other mods, just the basic game. If your sprites don't work, I'll send them out to you.

Longstreet - Shoot me a PM with your address. I've a bunch of disks, so NP there.

Glad y'all are interested.

Jack B)

Oh Yeah - SR4 for these units to have decent sized ones.

:woohoo: Wow just wow thats amazing then Jack, Thanks! After finally managing to stumble across a few of the threads talking about how difficult it is to edit the sheer number of sprites (prone, standing, shooting, from every angle imaginable); that's about the best thing i've heard all week lol. I have only one question, why is this not uploaded and in the released mods section hah? are there still things unfinished or? It seems like it would be fairly straightforward to edit the rifle ranges down to proper levels and idk what else might need to be changed; but through the fog of war in that screenshot those look like some proper british lobster-backs with the tri(bi?)-corn hats and everything  (I was thinking those might be a pain to get looking right on the sprites hehe) from what i can see it looks like most of the work is done :cheer:

All,

The folder is self-contained as I said. You can plug it straight into the Mods section of the game. There are a couple of Lads out there I have already sent this to, so I know it works. It is not uploaded to the Mods list because I can't get it to do so. (It IS huge, (700 plus mega-bites), that's why I send it out on a disk or flash-drive.

Also - this is important! These are non-packed sprites. They will take up a lot of room on your drive. Again, I have only done Hi-Res sprites, so if your comp is lazy, it will run very slowly.

Alright, thanks Jack, I think my machine should be able to handle it, unless it causes a very serious performance hit.

I'm curious though, what OOB(s?) have you included in your mod? I have already begun researching some OOB's from some of my "favorites" :p ,(Brandywine, Monmouth, Camden, Cowpens[this ones just about done], Guilford Courthouse) so i'm curious which one(s) you've already done. Also, as you can most likely tell hah, I'm very enthusiastic about and interested in seeing a completed revolutionary war mod  . How would you (and anyone else who's worked on this mod) feel about possibly continuing to work on it? or maybe allowing others to use what you have completed (with all credit going to you of-course) and continue to work on it? :woohoo:

Last but not least, I feel like the scale of most of the battles of the revolutionary war are perfect for the scourge of war engine to be able to handle in 1:1 scale/sprite ratio; where 1 sprite = one man. The only thing that needs to be done is to use the in-game "regiments" (which are limited to 123 sprites) as companies; correspondingly, in-game "brigades" would turn into battalions/regiments; and in-game "divions" would be used as actual full scale 1:1 brigades, "Corps" would be used as Divisions and so on and so forth etc. etc. I've heard people talking about creating OOB's like this and I'm wondering if maybe you implemented them like this aswell.

Hey Jack - thought I'd experiment with the old RnR sprites that I had from TCM2 in order to avoid having to beg you to send a CD to Blighty!

Had to rename the old dds files to match your new csv entries but once done they worked fine. Great to see them in game so thanks for figuring out the appropriate csv entries. B)

As time allows I'll look at doing the same for the Continentals.

Once I've finished the Texas mod I'll also pull together some splash screens for you.

All,

Thanks for the enthusiastic responses.

Crikey - yes, since you have the old TC2M sprites, just changing them over works fine. Nice job. Also, got your PM on the screens and such. Thanks.

Long - The OOBs I've done are just for me to play in sandbox. I really haven't had time to go whole hog on actual real Battle OOBs. Go ahead, you can do it. just use the base OOB I've provided and add to it. It is far simpler than it seems at first glance. If I provided the original OOBs from the TC2M Mod, use those as a template, but use mine as the base. The TC2M ones will not work with SOWGB. Get to it!

Jack

Excellent Jack, yes I've already stared, I've now downloaded Garnier's OOB Editor tool, (which is great btw) and figured out how to Create OOB's. I've had a few that I've been researching and writing down on paper already; Camden, Guillford Courthouse, and one that I've already finished; Cowpens. I've been experimenting with the finished Cowpens OOB, and I've figured out how to implement it into the KS Napoleon mod with the napoleonic sprites as (hopefully) temporary stand-ins for now. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of your Mod on Disk so i can fully begin  .

Looks like Crikey is doing some amazing work with those menu/ loading screen aswell, those are very cool man! I could send you some nice, fairly high resolution images if you need any more for that Crikey. It would appear as though this is coming along splendidly though :cheer: .

Gentlemen, I am still eagerly awaiting the CD containing the mod, but in the mean-time I've figured out how to create OOB's with Garnier's Editor. I don't currently have the correct sprites for an AWI battle; but I've been itching for some Britain vs. America action :silly: . So I have created a full size Sprite ratio 1:1, Battle of Bladensburg OOB (War of 1812) utilizing mostly the french sprites for the American regulars (they're actually fairly similar) and the confederate and dutch militia sprites for the American militias. Perhaps the most atrocious of my substitutions is Prussian Landwehr sprites standing in for US Navy Sailors haha but i didn't know what else to use  . Also I havne't yet figured out how to add new flags, so French flags are standing in for American ones. It was basically just a test for me to figure out how to Create OOBs, but it seems like it might actually be a fairly fun OOB to play. If anyone would be interested just let me know and I'll figure out how to upload it somewhere ha.

1812 is a logical extension given the sprites available. Nice work. B)

The Belgian sprites in the Kriegspiel mod might work well as US infantry too. Or the Portugese Fusiliers in RTW.

Some US sailor sprites were produced for TCM2 but these would need bringing across, and are unpacked. :(

Flags .... hopefully you should be able to copy across the US flag using the same ref as normal OOBs

GFX_US_National

If not I can help it work for you. I'll also look at some screens etc.

Looking forward to seeing a Download link.
