Crash report

Was playing the solo tutorial. Suddenly crashed out into Windows with the following message:

Runtime Error!

Program C:\NorbSoftDev\Scourge of War - Gettysburg\SOWGB.exe

This application has requested Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Was pretty far along in the battle, too. Quite frustrating.

Here is the relevant excerpt of the SOWGB log contents:

Steve,
That is quite unusual. There is a very rare crash that we have not been able to catch in action so we can figure out what is going wrong. We can't tell from the available info what might have happened. However here is what you can do for the future.

On the Options screen page set the Autosave to 2 (minutes). This will generate a full save of the game every 2 min. If you get the crash again, go to the directory: C:\NorbSoftDev\Scourge of War - Gettysburg\Work\Saved Games. There will be a file named _autosave.sav, rename this file to some other name like precrash.sav. Start the game up and load this game up and let it run. If it crashes again, then you have captured the bug. Post here and we will contact you on how to get us the file. Good bug hunting.

Jim, I hate to say it, but it isn't unusual or rare, its real and its frequent and its happening - the same thing is happening to me. Game worked perfectly last week, this week Runtime Errors!!! I have even uninstalled and reinstalled several times - and still the same result - Runtime Error!!!

Hi.

I was having similiar problems with other programs (not sow) in the past, and I used a program called "MalwareBytes, Anti Malware", and did a full scan, and it found a couple dll's which were flagged, and it discovered that my rootkit in the registry was modified.

Things just started to fail without reason, couldn't figure it at first. Then one after another programs failed. They would work one day, then not the next. As I was seeing it, each time you rebooted your system, it attacked another area of your system, until you have to re-install windows.

After finding these items, and correcting them, my system is responding perfectly.

No More problems.

Trust me, do this.

Download this software. It's free (extras for registration of course.

Did you install the patch? This is just crazy. I wonder if some virus protection just started flagging some of our files. Not only do we have to write a game, but we have to fight against other programs running on the computer that want to shut us down. Could they make it any harder?

Two runtime errors for me this week. Hadn't encountered it before.

I have fixed one more crash since the beta patch. If you are not running the beta patch, it's hard to determine if it's something we've already fixed or not.

I am very sorry that you are having these crashes. I absolutely hate being in an MP game and getting crashes. I promise that we are working very hard to clear all of these up. Right now we have a patch that fixes a lot of the issues brought up on this board, but I'm not sure exactly how much it's been tested. I am also working closely with the activation company to find solutions to avoid false positive from dictatorship virus software. He always suggests sending the file to the company. But we need to do more.

Jim,

Yeah I have installed the patch - no difference - Runtime Error. Only now, I cannot even get into the game - it just instantly comes up with the Runtime Error as soon as I try to start the game. Seems to me it just gets worse.

Please provide some more information.

What's your OS and your system specs? Did you update your DirectX installation? Where does the game crash exactly?
