Lack of response when in the saddle

I tried playing the Strong Vincent scenario on Veteran, but really struggled to get him to go anywhere- I was clicking but it seemed like the click was not recognised by the game- possibly I was clicking too far away? As I moved along, vincent became harder to control - wouldn't pick up my clicks often, and When I got near Little Round Top, I couldn't move Vincent at all- I tried clicking all around him, but it seemed like i was doing something wrong. Any ideas? I'm not putting this as a tech support question as it may be wad and it's just that I haven't undetrstood how to control the leader when in the saddle properly. Thanks!

I haven't played that way myself. Larry is our pro at the tougher levels, hopefully he'll get some insight in here for you.

Tbh I hadn't intended to play that way-I just thought playing on veteran would give the best ai challenge. I like the option but usually don't select it, but as it loaded up like that as default I thought I'd give it a go. In fact I tried the historical option first on Buford's scenario and that seemed to be better- it certainly never got to the point where it refused to move.

Just to show you what 9 years in a college fraternity will do to one, I thought the title of this post might be someone complaining about their sex life! I was going to suggest sugar cubes . . . it works for me!
