Scourge of War Boards

After two downloads and numerous attempts at installing, the game will not begin a campaign of any kind. Now I am stuck in the activation/deactivation nightmare.

Because I uninstalled before deactivating, my latest install won't register.

I am using a Dual 2.4 Pentium, 3 gig ram, strong video card, etc., so the set up is not the problem. I have Mcafee installed, but have tried to play without firewall, still no good. I have a dual monitor set up that I have tried in all modes and resolutions, with one or two screens.

Initially, the game downloaded, installed, activated and started fine, but never got past the "pick a battle" page. At that point (demo or full version) the music would play, and the screen would freeze.

Any hints?

You should be able to play the demo in SP irrespective of security settings or activation. A couple of things to check.

First, take a look at this post:

please check and make sure that your download is clean and that you get the right checksum using that program. A link to the program is also on the SOW Downloads page.

Second, what OS are you running. If you are in Vista or Win7, try setting the exe to run as administrator.

It could have something to do with McAfeee. Did you get a security warning for the SCPWIN32.DLL at the first start?

So is your game activated now, or is it still in demo mode?

Sorry people, life is taking over for a couple days. I will get back at it ASAP.

McAfee didn't give me any grief. The install went well, and the game got as far as the "pick a campaign" screens. After choosing a campaign or training (in demo or registered version) it would lock up with the soundtrack playing (nice tune).

Ran chcksum utility and everything looks good there.

can't find Culp.dat

Hm, looks like something went wrong with the installation.

What's your OS? Where did you install the game/demo?

All seems good now. I did a full delete/re-install and bingo...
