Diplay /Colour resolution problem – or was it just snowing at the time?

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Diplay /Colour resolution problem – or was it just snowing at the time?

Post by Col D. Streamer »

Ok guys – this could be an interesting problem

I have downloaded the demo on to 3 different machines

Machine 1 is a laptop with half a gig memory and to be honest I didn’t expect much from it.
Machine 2 is my home desktop with 2 gig memory
Machine 3 is my office desktop with 3 gig memory

As expected the 3 gig machine seems fine. However on machines 1 and 2, I seem to have a problem with the ground landscape – ie it is completely blank. I can see the rocks, trees, sky and clouds and even the bridge but the rest is unfilled or defaults to white. To be honest it looks as if the demo is set in winter and the troops are fighting and marching through snow! The game does work ok in spite of this but works fine but

I did wonder if this was a memory problem but machine 2 with 2 gig should be sufficient. I have played with some of the performance options and resetting the resolution but can’t work out what is causing the problem.

Obviously I don’t care about machine with half a gig but I would like to resolve the problem on machine 2 with 2 gig before I purchase the game. Machine 3 is fine but I am not able to use it without losing my job and I am reluctant to ask our technical people for the same reason!

Has anyone else come across this problem?
regards to all

That's more a graphic card problem. Machine 1 & 2 probably have one with memory below 256/128MB RAM.

Please run dxdiag.exe, click save all data, open the file DxDiag.txt and let us know what is in the section that looks like this:

Correct, it is a 64MB card and that's why the game doesn't work properly on machine 2.
