Fences Oddity and Commander Bonuses

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Fences Oddity and Commander Bonuses

Post by Wolfe_CH »

Hi. Really love the look to the game. Glad to see TC2M updated so nicely. The immense amount of work really shows up in the game! Thanks so much.

Ran into a few potential problems, though, and had a few suggestions.

* When you turn the Show Map Objects down to Medium or less to speed up the game the fences disappear. Not just visually, but their attributes are gone as well. The area where the fences should be no longer impedes movement nor does it supply a defensive bonus.

* The commander's bonus disappears very quickly from a subordinate unit's bonus box, yet the gold circle remains for quite some time. Fire up the Brigade Combat Tutorial and move the commander toward the objective once it appears. Select either of the regiments and wait for the gold star to vanish. Now immediately click the commander. You'll see the gold halos over the regiments remain for quite some time as the commander continues to move.

* Those gold halos are also VERY difficult to see. It took me 2 days to realize it was even there! :( Is there any possibility they could be made bright green again so they're more visible?

* As in the previous games, the commander's range still seems awfully short. I find myself having to almost stand some commanders on top of a single regiment to supply the bonus.

* The Brigade Run command will get them all quick-moving, but it won't toggle back to move. You either have to re-issue the brigade formation again, or select move for each individual unit. Unless I'm missing something.

* The targeting list doesn't change color once a regiment is in range (though it does change the text, obviously). This was always nice, easy visual cue to pick up.

Thanks for the great game!

Also, can you enhance the "glow" outline around the flag of the selected unit/commander. It's not easily seen, especially when where are several units in the area.
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.

I can help with a couple of your questions.
* When you turn the Show Map Objects down to Medium or less to speed up the game the fences disappear. Not just visually, but their attributes are gone as well. The area where the fences should be no longer impedes movement nor does it supply a defensive bonus.
When you turn down the settings to get rid of the fences, it's not supposed to impede movement. Nob put that in so people wouldn't be confused "why am I slowing down when there is no fence there?"
* As in the previous games, the commander's range still seems awfully short. I find myself having to almost stand some commanders on top of a single regiment to supply the bonus.
Some commanders will not give leader bonus's. I can't remember if it's explained in the manual or not, but there are several factors that determine whether a commander can offer a leader bonus or not.
* The Brigade Run command will get them all quick-moving, but it won't toggle back to move. You either have to re-issue the brigade formation again, or select move for each individual unit. Unless I'm missing something.
Correct. It's something that the test team and I just got used to, so never reported it. Probably something that can be considered for a patch. Also I'm sure it's something that can be moddable.
The targeting list doesn't change color once a regiment is in range (though it does change the text, obviously). This was always nice, easy visual cue to pick up.
There wasn't enough time to get the coloring in. But I'm sure it will be something considered for a patch.
