Great Civil War Movies

So, let's talk aboiut (or atleast list) some great ACW movies here. I'll start off with two obvious ones -- (1) Gettysburg and (2) Gods and Generals. Loved both of them -- one of the few things complimentary that I could say about Ted Turner is the fine job he did with these two movies. I only wish he had desired to see it through and finance the final movie in the trilogy.

And I wish he had included something of Antietam and Second Manassas in Gods and Generals.

Okay -- what movies can YOU recommend?

Steve

1951's Red Badge of Courage. Not for the authenticity, but for the dialect.

Surprised no one has mentioned "The Horse Soldiers".
Not for the history of the raid, but for the riding.

 , how can we forget 'The Duke'?

And now, for the history:
Based on the true story of Colonel Benjamin Henry Grierson, who led a cavalry expedition that General Ulysses S. Grant hoped would distract Confederate forces while the Union army made its move toward Vicksburg. In the spring of 1863, setting out from La Grange, Tennessee, Grierson took 1,700 Yankee troopers south the length of Mississippi, destroying rail lines and rolling stock, torching supply depots, and disrupting Confederate communications. Sixteen days and five hundred miles later, he brought his men safely into Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Hi.

For me I really enjoyed...

Glory.
Gone with the wind.
North & South (mini-series)

It was North and South that actually sparked my interest in the American Civil war.

That's about it.
