Method of displaying on-going and final scores.

I feel that showing only the player’s gross score during the course of the game is less than helpful. It is like playing cribbage with only one scoring peg being displayed and moved.
Would it not be possible to show, on the leader’s display, the running enemy “contra-score” as well to avoid false optimism ? And maybe also a running “net” score for the leader.
If this is too difficult, and I suspect it would be, might it perhaps be possible as the next best thing to display a final score screen after completion of the scenario which shows how the enemy score is actually generated.
So many of your men killed.
So many of your officers killed.
So many of your units forced to retreat.
So many of your units routed.
Objective points won by the enemy.

I usually use Sandbox battles and at any point you can click on the OOB ikon (Central Toolbar Display) for any Commander and see displayed all the different types of casualty figures for both your unit and the enemy unit at that stage- seems extremely comprehensive. But I may have misunderstood your comments........

Hi PCelt,
Thanks for the note. Perhaps I haven't picked this procedure up.
I must away to the manual and see what I can find. That's the one disadvantage of the on-line manual. In the old days I used to keep a copy of any new manual in the loo and it's surprising how quickly you were able to read the important parts. With some games though you would be sorely tempted to tear the thing up and use it appropriately.
Best regards

Just click on the central OOB Ikon and display will show you all the combat info for the Commander and unit you have selected at the time. You'll be a well-informed leader-even if of apalling quality.
All best Wishes

Hi PCelt.
Thanks for the kind words.
I think at my age my reflexes have slowed up too much to be a good commander. I would be a bit like Suverov at Borodino, commanding from a carriage.
I am seriously considering at the moment getting my house-girl to come in and sit by me to steady my shaking right hand on the mouse. If you want to do a calculation, I joined my regiment on exactly the same date as Elvis Presley. Remember "Wooden Hearts" and all that. And how many years has he supposedly been dead ?
Perhaps they should set up a special multi-player group for geriatrics. Anyone claim to be the oldest member still playing. Anyone contacting via a medium and claiming also to have fought at the battle I shall disregard.

Anyway back to business.
The OOB's give what I might describe as the"goal difference". My personnel losses compared with the enemy's losses.
But it is the other hidden enemy points I am interested in. At the start of a scenario the gallant foe can sit on an objective for quite a few minutes (at 100 a minute) before my brave boys (or some of them) get up the hill and push him off.
If I am more aggressive than prudent, there might be enemy points mounting up through causing-to-retreat or routing of some of my regiments or killing of some of my dafter officers.
Just looking at the respective kill-rates and your declared "gross-score", you can often get a rose-coloured picture, think you "have it made" and have a rude shock when the final scores are posted.
If you could see the "running net score" during the game, it could put a boot behind you to put in a bit more effort or perhaps act a little more prudently.

One thing I am sorry to see is that the "highlights" feature has not been carried over from TC2M. Hit 'F3' for a full running list of highlights for the scenario. See the highlights for each unit down the right hand edge of the OOB. Great stuff.

You mean you don't take your laptop to the loo with you? Admittedly, rather hard to rip up but hey, you could put a printer in there too...

Greetings Geoff---If you chiefly want your house-girl to steady your hand on the mouse I guess you must be getting old and forgetful.
And incidentally I imagine I might rival you in the geriatric stakes--having witnessed much of the Battle of Britain and the billeting of U.S 29th Div in Cornwall pre DDay at first hand. Now you tell me how you survived the Boer War.
Re a multiplayer group for geriatrics--I'll go with that if you can provide us all with House Girls to hold our mice.......

The F3 highlight screen is still available.
