He's Come......

Stamp of hooves on the dirt road,
The sound of a man dismounting,
his boots thudding into the wet mud....
Out of the dark he emerges, a long grey overcoat hiding his body,
a wide hat shadowing his face, dripping with the rainwater....
He looks up at his beloved soldiers, around the campfire, and draws his sword....
A cheer! He's come! He's arrived!
The battleflag is waved above the orange glow of the fire...
Hampton is here....
And the Yankees quake in their boots...
Because Hampton shows no mercy to those in blue....
And Hampton has faced them many a time....
And he will fight again here....
Hampton has arrived....
