Thanks Tim!...72PA Typical Zouave uniforms I think (Red pants, blue coat, and turban. Their monument depicts a zouave using his rifle as a club...And another interesting note, on the battle field, the 69thPAvols monument right and left flank markers are linked with a chain because their line wasn't broken during the assault. Rebels enveloped them on both sides when Armistead slammed into the corps of trees and they held tough. Heading to Gettysburg in two days. Can't wait! Thanks for the discussion, ready cool.

One of Don Troiani's illustrations suggests that the 72nd had ditched the baggy Zouave pants by the time of G'burg. Some of them might still have been wearing their Zouave jackets.

Guitarmandanga is correct. And Don Troiani's paintings are pretty much right on as far as uniforms at Gettysburg. Bye the time of Gettysburg most of the fancey uniforms were discarded for the rigors of the battle fields. Although like most men in the military in those days some kept some their old uniforms and even wore them on the battle field.
