This is something I have to share with you people.

Hi guys.

I have to share what I just found.

I have a dial-up connection, and I just happen to have a dynamic IP address which is a massive pain in the rump especially if you want to keep an ip address that you wish to be constant.

So, I was up to creating my Own Bulletin board (to be a part of my personal website), I know, whats a bbs, well I'm actually not going into that right now, maybe later. Anyway since my ip changes everytime I connect to my dialup server it made it impossible for people to visit my bbs, unless I updated the ip address myself on my webpage. So I created a host name called paranorbbs.no-ip.org, so no matter what my ip is, you will always be redirected to me so anyone can visit my Bulletin Board.

NOTE: For Multiplayer

I just wanted too add, I thought wouldn't this be useful for those people who want to have a multiplayer game, but their IP changes each time they go online, and now all you have to do is create a host name, and let the NO-IP take care of the rest. All the other players need to do is enter your host name, they will immediately connect to you no matter if your ip changes.

This pretty interesting stuff, and it's free. If you have the extra money, you can upgrade if you want too.

1: sign up.
2: assign a host name
3: download the client software (very small).
4: run the software, and off you go, fully automated!

Once you login with the client software, it will take your current IP address, and apply it to your hostname.

Here is the site to visit for this great little service.

http://www.no-ip.com/

Hope this helps someone out there. When I come across things like this, I can't keep it too myself.

Cheers...

Hi.

-2 for karma? Okay, I got your message. Wow, lost 7 points for one post. I really thought this info would help someone out, I guess not.

How many negative points do you need to get booted?

:)

Cheers...

The karma stuff is a joke, please do not take it seriously at all. Most people don't even touch it or know it exists. Yes, of course it's nice to see your karma go up, but please do not take it personally. You contribute a lot to the forum and it's appreciated!

+1 :)

I can't see why anyone would have taken a karma point for this thread anyway.

M,

Plus one from me anyway. Was a good post. Sweat not the Karmic issue, friend, indeed engage the game...

Hi guys.

Wow, now the other way! :)

Haaa, the karma really doesn't bother me much at all. What opened my eyes a bit wider was how quickly it happened.

I thought that someone must know more about this site/software, maybe they had trouble with it or something, so I decided to do some poking about to find out more, and I didn't find anything negative about the company, so I was just a wee bit confused to why the quick drop in points.

Thank you Braxton Bragg, Jack ONeill,Norb,Little Powell, and Marching Thru Georgia for the support.

I still can't figure out why the drop.

Thanks again guys!

Cheers...
