Pick and choose OOBs

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Pick and choose OOBs

Post by DavidAcheson140PVI »

Hi Norb I was wondering if in the new patch you could release pick and choose
OOBs for sandbox games. Like you can choose and set of commanders like if i wanted to be hancock but have some of the 1st corps and some from the 5th corps stuff like that. you set a number of units to have and just pick them out. Well i can dream..

Cheers,

That is on my list of to do items. I actually wrote that functionality myself for Waterloo:Nap's greatest victory :) But I don't have my old code :(

It's something that has been on our list for a while now, but we've just had so many other items take precedence. It will be in the game, I just don't know when.

I like this idea as well...to clarify it...I see it this way:

Lets say we have a OOB screen...set what type of battle you would like (Army, Corp, Division, Brigade etc.)

Say you Choose division...

Army of Potomac comes up with all of its division commanders....choose 1

Now you get to select 2-4 brigade commanders from a list of Army of the Potomac brigade commanders

Now you get to personalize each brigade from a pool of every regiment in the Army of the Potomac. For example...

I choose Lysander Cutler as 1st brigade commander
In that brigade, I select the following regiments:
71st NY
6th Wisconsin
4th Maine
20th Indiana
76th NY
1st US Sharpshooters

Also, I think a great idea would be if we would see the combat strengths of each regiment and the total overall brigade strength, all the way up to the division, corps etc...

Anyways...I am just dreaming as well...
