Looking north at Ruger's deployment west of the Culp Farm. Skirmishers are set out 700 yards ahead near the southern portion of Gettysburg.

McDougal's Brigade deploys to the left of the Culp Farm, protecting the flank of Ruger's Brigade. They watch hesitantly as John Geary's entire division marches past them on assignment towards Benner's Hill.

Somehow the 24th Georgia got through our pickets without firing a shot. The 27th Indiana is the first to sight them inside Gettysburg.

The 107th NY on the right side of the 27th Indiana also comes in contact with rebels inside Gettysburg. I am still unsure of the size of the force opposing me on my weak right flank.

The rebels come up close and the 2nd MA plugs the hole in between the 27th and 107th. Hand to hand fighting insues. I immediately call up Henry Lockwood's Brigade which was late on arrivign. I order them to double quick to our right flank. (They were originally moving beyond the creek, about 800 yards to the NW).

Lockwood's Brigade begins to arrive in the nick of time. These two regiments are large, each numbering more than 500 men, but they have a drawback, they are green as ever!
